Re: The ULTIMATE ultimate guide to fixing your NAT

Sep 27, 2007
Last time I looked on my PS3 it said either 'unknown' or '?' for the NAT type. I haven't followed any of these setup steps, I let the PS3 set itelf up automatically using DNS and it works fine. Haven't had to tweak anything.

My PS3 goes via WEP wireless to a Netgear WRG614v4 wireless access point, which is wired to a Netgear DG814 DSL Gateway. There's also numerous other PCs and devices on my network, some wired, some wireless, and I haven't had any issues so far.

I've followed these instructions but still don't get an internet connection. IP is OK, but internet connection test fails on DNS error.

OP please change directions on DNS server entry's it's just making it more difficult ..

To the person that asked about "What if i only have one DNS server"
it's good..

Does anyone know how PSN operate compared to using web browser?

For the second part of the tutorial, all I had to do was enable UPnP and, Vuala! I got NAT Type 2!
Every time I find the key to success, someone changes the lock.

Re: The ULTIMATE ultimate guide to fixing your NAT

Oct 12, 2007

Hi.  I have a Motorola cable modem and a Netgear router.  I know that my ps3 is connected right because I use the same connection that I do with my xbox360, and I can play on xbox live just fine.  I’ve run the internet connection test on the ps3 and it checks out okay, but if I try to play a game online I always get disconnected immediately.  Also, I’m positive that it’s not just that I have a bad connection or something like that.  I’ve ran connection speed test, tried running a line directly from the modem to the ps3, restarted everything, etc.

Will following the NAT guild fix this problem?  If so, can someone post instructions for a Netgear router?  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

/Bumping in hopes for the Netgear walkthru.

I have the exact same setup as BedIam, except I'm running a PC wirelessly instead of an xbox.

I guess my main problem is I'm unsure as how to exactly set a static IP on my router.  I'm unsure as to what #'s to put into my Netgear router

Once again the people that are having problems are the peopl with DSL modems with built in routers. They don't realize that they have to put their DSL modem/router in bridge mode so that their linksys or whatever other router they have can do all the work.
