I've tried everything possible and my credit card will not work.

4 replies 140 views Edited Apr 24, 2013

I've tried a different card, deleting and re-entering everything, signing in and out.  On my PS3 and on my laptop.

At first it kept telling me my card was invalid. Now it's telling me it's unavailable.

On my Ps3 it keeps saying error messages.

I made sure everything was typed in right.

I'm getting really irritated.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

I sent a message to customer support but there is no telling on how long they will reply or even if they will help.

YOur likely going to need to talk to them to get it settled out. Is it a pre-paid, or bank issued credit card? I've seen issues with pre-paid. I'm not usre what your comfort level is with internet purchases, but if you do not mind having a balance you can purchase PSN funds from Amazon and add them to your account. I even believe that the links from Sony to purchase funds bring you to Amazon. Other than that you need to talk to Sony about why it's not taking your card. It's likely billing address, or just Sony.

The credit card authorization system SONY uses is very strict.  You must enter the billing address EXACTLY as it appears on your statement, and even then there are no guarantees that it will work.  Out of my three or four cards only one will work.

Easiest solution is as mentioned above - buy a prepaid PSN card to load funds into your account.

** Use a unique password for your PSN ID - one you don't use anywhere else **
** Engage brain before putting mouth in gear **

I have a photographic memory,.. so no mistakes on the typing.

Sony replied with no help at all. Just gave the same answers I've seen on the Knowledge Center.

I've noticed several people have had the same problem.

It'd be nice if they would just fix it.

I only wanted to make a $2.50 purchase from the PSN store.

And I only have $8.00 on my card.

I don't really want to spend $20.00 on a PSN Card  when I don't need the whole $20.00.

Seems like a ridiculous amount of trouble for only spending under $3.00.

I haven't paid for anything on PSN with my credit card in a long while. But, if I remember correctly, you have to bank a minimum of $5 dollars in your PSN account in order to make even a .99 cent puchase.

You say you only have $8 dollars on the card you are trying to use, but are their any electronic charges? If so, it may be going over the limit and not allowing you to use the card.

If you are sure it should allow you to make a purchase, try putting your billing address in alternate ways "spelling out Street, instead of using ST; use ST. with a period/ST without a period -- for some examples.

I had this issue when using my card at first. I put it in EXACTLY as my billing address, and that still didn't work.

It ended up being something silly as above.
