THE ANSWER: Just got off the phone with PSN customer service and they said if you have a Vita you must have a friend or someone you know with a PS3 and you have to login real quick with your login to their PS3 and get the message then log off.
Before I begin, thanks to LNZdesigns for calling customer service and posting the information received.
This is at best a workaround, not a solution or answer. It is a real inconvenience to those who got the email message but don't have a PS3.
I'm sure Sony had the best of intentions, but this was extremely poorly planned. I'm "rewarded" for my loyalty, but now I must jump through hoops to get the reward.
Please, Sony, find a real solution for PSP/PS Vita fans.
That solution from support is not really a solution at all.
Here's one for them though. How about next time you try and do something nice, you don't #$!% it up for once and do something smart, like, consider the fact that perhaps you have loyal customers who's PS3's have died and who no longer have one?
Just email a PSN redeemable code like any other sane company would do. I know that Sony is trying to do something nice here, but it truly feels like they just don't *think* about anything all the way through, ever, before they do it.
I would rather have never gotten the @%$!%^ email at all at this point.
Wow man, that is not a solution. If I knew someone with a PS3 that would've crossed my mind without their help. Sony has a pretty strange way of appreciating their customers.
Terrible solution. Wy not just add it to our wallets or allow us to do it through a PC. I have spent the better part of two days trying to figure this out with that being the solution. Horrible.
I'm waiting for the real solution! I just have a PSVita, i do not own PS3. Also, i do not have friends that own a PS3. So do i have to share my account information to strangers to get my "reward"?
Just go to the PSN Store on your Vita.
Click the ... bubble in the right hand lower corner and select Redeem Codes.
Enter the code and there ya go!
I did this and can confirm it works and I no longer have a PS3.
