FIX FOR 80710092

15 replies 2085 views Edited Apr 17, 2011

All you have to do is   change the dns in your PS3's internet connection settings to open and that's   it!

Here's how it's   done:

Go to "Internet   connection settings"

Select "custom" for   connection method

For Wired  connections:  select wired connection, select auto-detect, select automatic for  ip address  settings, dhcp host name "do not set", for DNS SETTINGS select MANUAL  and then  put in two numbers from the following website http://theos.in/windows-xp/free-fast-public-dns-server-list/, choose the top option for everything else and then   try signing into your PSN account.

For WIRELESS connections: select wireless, select  enter manually,  for ssid click to the right, click to the right for security,  click to the right  for security key, automatic for ip address, do not set for  dhcp host, MANUAL for  DNS and then enter two numbers http://theos.in/windows-xp/free-fast-public-dns-server-list/, choose the top option for everything else and then  try  signing into your PSN account.

Hope that   helps

Simplistically:

go through custom settings, set everything to "automatic" except DNS. Change  DNS Manually to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, or 4.2.2.5 and 4.2.2.6

None of these DNS settings work.  I tried about 5 and nothing. Also made the PS3 to DMZ host and nothing works.  Sony just needs to fix their Servers.

Let me tell you a secret, newbie. This isn't a problem with sony, this is happening because some ISP's aren't providing enough access to their own dns. Keep trying dns numbers until one of them works

LOL @ Newbie.

I have been trying multiple times with same pair of DNS numbers then trying different ones.  No Luck.  I guess ill keep trying tomorrow or so.  Shit sucks, but thanks for info.

Also, What ISP you have?  I have Verizon FIOS and PSN was working flawlessly before friday.

I have FIOS as well and been having the problem since yesterday. None of these solutions have worked for me. Prior to this I'd had no problems at all. Better be fixed soon... my patience is running out. Back to Xbox 360 shopping...

I'm using Centurylink, but my parents were using Verizon (in a different state.) I walked them through using different dns, we used 4.2.2.3 and 4.2.2.4 --I'm sorry it's not working for you, though. :/

everyone should just wait until SCEA fixes this problem, and it shouldn't take no longer than the end of next week. i'd rather not screw around with the network settings

Just tried using those DNS numbers (hadn't tried them yet) but no luck. Thanks anyway though. Gonna try some more addresses and see if I can find some that work. I'll post if I do.

I finally was able to sign in using DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. I took a few tries but it worked. Now I don't want to turn off my PS3...
