So my PS3 reooted and I ever make it to the home screen. I just get the wavy bit and star field.
Had a 120 GB drive, but upgraded it to a 1TB drive a while ago. This is the first issue I've had since the swap.
Was running whatever the latest required version to connect to PSN was.
thanks alot sony your update just crashed BOTH of my ps3's. yes BOTH. one i had just lost 500 gigs of digital games. yes thats over 150 downloaded games. and the other ps3 was 500 gigs worth of movies. not to mention all my mp3s.

I updated everytime it asks and use my ps3 everyday. Now All I have is a ribbon and no XMB I cannot connect a controller and loading a game or movie has no effect whatsoever. please advise
GB I have a 40 GB system updated with a 750 GB hard drive. While updating from 4.20 to 4.25 my system failed to restart and went to a blank screen. Did a hard shutdown and system will not reconnect.
- ****VERSION 4.45****
Can anyone (having this issue) get in the safe mode menu?
If you don't know how, try the steps below.
- Turn off your PlayStation
- When the system is off push the power button down and hold your finger on it till the system shuts off.
- When the system shuts off, repeat holding the power button down till you hear a double beep. <beep beep>
When you do that it should bring you to the safe mode. There would be a few options. I personally don't know if this would help or not, but you can always try to select #3 "Restore File System". If I was having this issue, that is what I would aim at. Just don't go beyond selecting #3 (Rebuild File System) or #4 (Rebuild Database) unless you know what you're doing with the other options. I'm sure Sony is going to be on this till the issue is fixed.
I have a blank screen on start up and the wireless controller doesn't connect.
I put a 1TB SATA drive in several months ago
I don't know what was the previous version I updated from as I have auto-update set. Whatever was the previous update sent out.
So what are we supposed to do?
im stuck in safe mode now, there is no pc download of 4.45 to help me ix this stupid problem. sony pulled the download
edit, i found a pc version of firmware 4.45, im now going to retry installing it from usb. its installing now....if it restarts then that should be a fix
^READ THIS for all the info.
doing "Restore File System" corrupts the data and asks you to format the HDD. Doing that does not fix anything btw.
