I posted this under another topic before seeing this thread.  I have a 120 GB ps3 slim.

I have been having problems since 11-9-12.  Everything worked fine before that.  The only game I play is madden 13.  Sometimes at startup it will give me a DNS error, but I haven't caught the code.  If it signs me out of PSN while I am just in the operating system, I get an error 80710092.  When I test the internet connection, the connection speed test will come up as "failed".  It will then give me an error 80029020.  However on the same ps3, I am able to use Amazon prime app to stream video, and watch football using the Sunday ticket app.  So far I have tried the following to correct the issue:

Reset my DSL modem and router

Made a hard wired internet connection

Reset the router to default settings and upgraded the firmware.

Reset the TCP and UDP port forwarding ports

Connected directly to my DSL modem, bypassing the router entirely.

Downloaded and installed update 4.31 (I know that was dumb)

backed up and deleted game files to make sure none were corrupt

backed up and performed the ps3 system restore operation

I have contacted ps3 support by email, but they have not responded.  If anyone else has any ideas or can bump this up, I would appreciate it.

I have a 40gb ps3 updated form 4.20 to 4.25 now nothing works, green light, no blinking blue light, controllers will not connect, TV does not reconize the ps3 is on. .... This is a sad sad way to get people to buy the new ps3..... I am not happy that the update has bricked my ps3...

I tried to boot into safe mode... still nothing....

1 MONTH and 2 WEEKS maybe 3 weeks I stopped counting. What ARE YALL DOING HOW IM I SUPPOSE TO GET BLACK OPS 2 OR ANY **bleep** ONLINE GAME WITH THIS **bleep** STILL HERE. I cant risk playing disc based games because countless peoples blu ray reader blew out on them because of this I DONT CARE THAT I HAVE A WARRANTY IM NOT WASTING MY TIME WITH THAT **bleep**!

The same exact thing happened to me and i called tech support and was told pay 99 and ship it in. Said firm ware doesn't cause this.

With the addition of the don't ask again box for enable/disable plugins, there needs to be a menu option to re-enable plugins.

my slimline wireless 340 gig ps3 ,will sign itself in and out of the psn randomly for short periods ,if it can do that why isnt it possible to stay signed in ??????,PLEASE PLEASE FOR GODS SAKE DO SOMETHING ,i really dont want to switch to the XBOX im having to much fun with my ps3 ,but i aint gonna put up with this forever !!!!!!!

i have a 120g system and ive tryed everything u poss can to fix this crap shy of replacing parts(witch is my next step maby) my system was fine till the 4.25 update , i even tried to ude the 4.31 update to fix it and it did kinda. the reason being is that the 4.25 totaly craped out my blueray anything . but when i instaled the 4.31 i knida got that back i am able to reed disks when i put them in after my system sits for hours but when that disk stops loading or freezes b4 it can even get to a menu and i eject and try to reload it it wont register that thair is a disk again (my 4.25 error) so now im at a loss and dont know what do do anymore . sony if u can see this im getting really fed up wit ur shi*

I have a 40gb fat system. I had firmware 3.X, and just now updated to 4.31, now no discs will load. Worked fine before the update but decided I wanted to play a game online. Silly me
