PS3 Slim with default 250gb hdd
Updated from 4.20 (wanted to stay there forever!)
Had a disc in the ps3 before the update, went up to 44% then straight to 100%. rebooted and wouldn't read any discs.
I had the same problem. I know it was the update, because I was playing a game immediately before doing the update. Afterward, it wouldn't read any type of disc. All Sony did was use the word coincidence and frustrate me even more. I took it to my own technician and he found a blown diode in the Blu-Ray drive. Replaced it, and all is well. Cost me less than Sony and took less than a week to get it back. I don't believe Sony will repair the bricked PS3's unless the customers pay for it. Also, they put a clause in one of their recent updates exempting them from lawsuits. At least I have someone local that I trust to repair it in case anything else happens.
- Your PS3 Model, Hard drive size (phat/slim, GB size, default/custom HDD): Phat 80GB, default HDD
- Internet connection (wired/wireless): Wired
- Did you update to 4.25 from version 4.20 or 4.21 (4.21 was an optional update that was not required): updated from required 4.20
Immediately following updating, when trying to start the PS3, the light turns green, then yellow, then flashing red with four beeps.
The PS3 shutdown as soon as the update was comleted, and was working fine before applying it.
I cannot get into safe mode, holding the power button does not change the way it starts up at all - same as above
Booting from USB with update in folder PS3\UPDATE does nothing - same as above
remove/reinsert HDD, changes nothing - same as above
I'm trying to format the HDD on my computer and try that
I fear my PS3 is bricked
SONY - FIX IT IMMEDIATELY 4.25 was absolutley pointless and revert back to what it was. i had 4.21 working flawless and after the update I cannot go online. The interent is not recognized, and system works slow.
I have a 80GB Fat PS3 that came with MGS4. Wired Connection I pdated to 4.21 or 4.23 can't remember which before and that caused my ps3 to get stuck installing at 99% and I had to swap out hard drives and update via usb to fix it. This isn't new with 4.25 but 4.25 seems to be more of them happening.
