We can confirm that today’s PS Store publish will be delayed due to ongoing scheduled PSN maintenance. The extended PSN maintenance duration is due to intermittent authentication errors experienced during the routine maintenance. We are working quickly to minimize the inconvenience to our customers and will continue to provide updates to the PlayStation community via @PlayStation. We'll also post updates here as we get them.

LATEST UPDATE (2:41pm PST, 4/17)
Thank you again for your patience; we are now live with this week's PlayStation Store Update:
We'll be reviewing this case to ensure we do everything in our power to avoid these instances in the future. Again, thank you very much for your support and patience.
You can go to this thread (http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Network-Support/4-16-PlayStation-Store-Delays/m-p...) to see only updates from PlayStation staff, but we'll share those updates in this thread as well.
My biggest complaint with the delays like this is the Day 1 Digital program is useless in these situations. I had planned on buying Bioshock Infinite on PSN last month since there was the spend $50, get $10 deal, but ended up getting a retail copy because I didn't want to have to wait for the store to update later that evening, even though the game would have already been on my hard drive. Why would I wait until 5 PM Eastern, if I'm lucky, usually 8 or later, if I can just go to a brick and mortar and play it shortly after midnight?
TL;DR - Day 1 Digital has no purpose if it isn't utilized correctly. It can't compete with midnight releases.
I am legitimately concerned for the future of PSN in regards to the PS4. Every other store generally manages some form of consistancy in terms of their updates. I know tonight is exceptional, but it isn't the first time that an update has been late. SCEA needs to get on the ball compared to SCEJ and SCEE.
