Alright so the 80710723 code has people in the lock. This is the process of steps I took when this happened to me...not only my PS3 wouldnt read disc's. Just flat out would not read them, no blue screen, no random shut downs or freezes, just would not read disc. So first the 80710723 error.
1) Trying to update from 3.15 to 3.30 (was offline for the 3.21 update because I wanted to break PS3 when it would not read disc) I proceeded to just wipe the entire hard disk. So I went into the system settings and proceeded to do so. Took 4 1/2 hrs. Once that was done nothing happened.
2) After doing some reading, I tried this. I looked up the MAC on the PS3. Wrote that down went to my router through the address bar via the internet provider (typically starts with 192. blah blah blah). Go to the section Wireless, and under that there is MAC address Control. From here you can enter the MAC address to allow access to router. (under system settings is where you will find MAC address for PS3).
3) After entering that and updating it, the PS3 had no problem updating. But the rest of my computers could not wirelessly access the router. I waited for the update to finish, re-sgned for PS3 network and then proceeded to fix router situation with comps. With a router reset and Channel/SSID resetting (just re-entered all my previous information) all my comps and PS3 are working fine.
Now with the disc problem. Take a BD disc and enter it into the PS3. Then shut off the PS3 from the back. Not the proper way i know do it anyway. Give it a few seconds, then turn it on from the front of PS3 IMPORTANT STEP - Hold down the power button for two beeps!!! Once you hear the second beep let up. It will prompt you that you turned it off wrong WHATEVER. ok it. The BD disc should be under the VIDEO section...play it. After that I checked it with a Game and it worked like a charm.
Just a side note; I Reformat FIRST.
Then I worked on the Disc reading problem NOTE: I was not receiving an error message with this just would not read.
After that I worked on the internet problem.
Now Im going to write a nasty gram to the individuals in charge of this **bleep** @ SONY. Microsoft has the right idea by CHECKING.....CHECKING the updates performance prior to allowing customers to use it. I have never had the problems with anything as much as I have had with this damn PS3. You have yet to defeat me SONY...I refuse to send it in to you so you can charge me 150 dollars for a error that was probably planed so you can reap the money.
Good luck to the rest hope this is a fix to your problems
hi guys, got similar problem, when I play movies stired on my NAS devise (iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive) every 5min the movie freezes for 15 sec or so.... comes with the same error message. nas is wired to the router, 97% files( video are . avi)
tried different cables, reseted /restarted router and nas, no error logson nas, etc. did not help,
disabled upnp on my router (dlink dir-635)
also tried to forward ports:
TCP:80, 443, 5223
also added PS3 IP address to the DMZ!
still same, streaming the same movies from pc=no problems
Hey guys... SOLUTION
When I had this problem I was trying to sign in and it was saying "you must update before proceeding click here to update" So i clicked update now and it would get to about 4% and then come up with an error saying something about not being able to connect to the server and that ERROR 80710723... I tried this half a dozen times with the same result... I read the solution above above and decided that looks too confusing so I then randomly tried updating through the settings menu on the ps3 and it worked first time.. Hope this Helps
every time i try to do a system update, (i missed update 3.40 because of this error, and am now trying to update 3.41), not only when an update succedes it takes around about 6 hours to update, it also errors alot with the error code, i am not sure what to do `Error has occured 80710723' any help please??
For anyone who is having massive issues with the folowug error codes 80710092 and 80710723 I tried every possible solution that people suggested on here! I fixed mine by changing the channel on my router!
You find it in the Internet Connection Settings. Choose Custom, not easy, breeze through everything without changing them (unless you really have to, can't help you there though) and you will come across UpNp at the end. Choose Disable and save.
I have been having similar problems of late (losing connection, always wanting to sign me in and then not updating via internet etc) and found a simple solution.
Go to Sony PS3 website, download the update (in my case ver3.72) onto memstick, wack it in the PS3 and update from media.
Worked perfectly, and now everything looks ok, logged successfully into PS network.
