ERROR CODE 80710723 (NETWORK/ROUTER ERROR)

If this thread is active somewhere else, please don't kill me lol I'm not well versed in Forum Etiquette.

 

Greetings! As of right now, this error code issue has finally been resolved. I figured I would post this here since I wasn't able to find a reliable fix for this. I will give you guys a little background information, and then the fix!

 

I turned on my Playstation 3 in hopes of getting a little Diablo 3 time in and was told to download a patch (v1.02) it was here that I encountered the problem. I clicked "OK" and was directed to the download screen as per usual. The first unsual thing I noticed was that it was an 18MB patch yet according to my ps3 it would take 55-68 minutes (it kept fluctuating) to download! Clearly, my first thought was that my internet connection had a bit of traffic on it (my ps3 is connected wirelessly, i know i know it's the worst way to connect. mom and dad on laptop and smartphone respectively, and I was on my laptop) so I figured let me shut everything down and see if it will work. Unfortunately for me, this was not the case. Next I thought my wireless router was messing up but all my other devices were connected perfectly and downloading without missing a beat. The problem had to be within my ps3. I hit cancel and caused my ps3 to have a minor meltdown (it completely froze and had to be restarted) Upon turning it back on, I directed my attention to the Network Settings. With a little tweaking and a few hours of scouring the internet, I feel that I have a good, reliable fix for this problem. 

 

STEP 1 - Do the Usual Troubleshooting

That is to say, turn off your router and your modem, unplug them and wait at least 2 minutes before reconnecting everything. If you can cross check your connection with another device that would be ideal! 

 

STEP 2 - Now Comes the Fun Part

 Try going to SETTINGS > NETWORK SETTINGS > INERNET CONNECTION SETTINGS > (if wired, choose the first option 1 if wireless, choose option 2.)

1. WIRED CONNECTION > CUSTOM > MANUAL SETTINGS > AUTO DETECT > AUTOMATIC > DO NOT SET > MANUAL ( DNS1 : 208.67.222.222 , DNS2 : 208.67.220.220 ) > AUTO > DO NOT USE > ENABLE > X > X

2. WIRELESS > ENTER MANUALLY > ( ENTER SSID OR CLICK CONTINUE ) > ( CHOOSE SECURITY OR  CLICK CONTINUE ) > CUSTOM > AUTO > DO NOT SET > MANUAL ( DNS1 : 208.67.222.222 , DNS2 : 208.67.220.220 ) > AUTO > DO NOT USE > ENABLE > X > X

 

STEP 3 - The Grand Finale

Inside your Network Settings menu, go to the bottom where it says MEDIA SERVER CONNECTION and hit "X" so that the side menu pops up. Highlight "DISABLE" (if it is not already disabled) and hit "X" again. 

 

 

After you've done all these steps, go back to your game and see if you can do the update again. This fix worked for me the first time I did it. If this does or doesn't work for you please let me know! Hope everything works out for you guys best of luck!

i see this same fix all over the net when i search my problem but it doesnt work at all for me. i get the same error code but these fixes havent helped me. any other suggestions?? updates are always a problem for me. been trying to update dragon age inquisition forever now

I hope this works what cam i do if destiny never loads. Whats actually the problem was isnt it completing the upload.

This did not work. I have not been able to play Destiny FOR MONTHS!!! I seems all hope is lost, because I have tried EVERYTHING!!! PLEASE HELP, I do not want to have to never play again.😥😥

Ok, so all you have to do is exactly what the first post says but don't change the DNS settings but instead - DISABLE THE UPNP.
