Disable UPnP fixed my problem, but why?

1 replies 199 views Edited Jun 19, 2013

I've been having issues playing online the last couple of days. First its Tomb Raider, then today I can't connect to The Last of Us Faction.

I run the network test and it won't get past the UPnP stage so I disabled it and now everything is fine.

But why? Anyways I think I'll just leave it off for now.

Not all router do UPnP correctly.

Another thing is that, in trying to better their network connection, users apply all the solutions the find on the net [e.g. enabling UPnP, DMZ, Port-forwarding]  This is overkill and the router itself will not apply all of them, there is hierarchy in which the router grants these rules. Only one & properly established rule is required.
