Connection to the server timed out

27 replies 5382 views Edited Sep 26, 2011

Hey, I have a little problem.. I want to play multiplayer online and my ps3 320gb is connected to the internet but it won't declare a NAT type, this is the screen I get when connecting to the internet:

Obtain IP                      Succeeded

Internet connection      Succeeded

PS3 Network                Succeeded

Upnp                             Not Available

NAT Type                     Failed

The connection to server timed out (80130203)

I have a Trendnet ACCESS POINT, wich is not close to being similar to a router, and I have no control over the modem since I'm on univeristy campus. The university tech guys say that there should be no problem signing in on the network and playing online although they have no clue whatsoever of what can be done.

Any help would be greatly appriciated, I've surved the web four hours looking for answers, but no one has answers for my excact situation.

Thanks!

As you probably already know the UPnP needs to be available, usually it would as simple as going into the routers settings & enabling it, this obviously isn't an option for you, & I'm sorry to say I'm not sure what your options are.

I've also been trying to sign in on my PS3...then this thing shows "The connection with PlayStation@Network timed out"

tried configuring my router, firewall, etc and still the same

changed my password like 5 times and couldnt sign in anyways

I'm from Mexico city, a friend (lives nearby) told me he did play online yesterday.

is the PSN out like few months ago, when all the hacking thing happened?

I think it's TEW-430apb, I'm no specialist so I could be wrong And yes, it is my own acess point. The University Tech guys set it up for me so it should be legit...

Is there any procedure needed to get an internet connection on campus? For example, is there a webpage you have to log in to get internet access? Do other computers connected through your wireless access point get internet access?

There is a given wep key for the campus that works for the internet that belongs to the college. My access point only distributes this internet access to computers within a certain radius but it's still the same internet. There is a possibility to connect both the ps3 and my laptop to the internet via ethernet cable but there seems to be a problem with that method on the ps3, when connected and the wired setup is selected (in the internet options menu) it states that there is a failure to obtain IP address. I think this problem is related to my UPnP and NAT type problem, but I don't know, I'm not a pro.

I was having the same problem as before with not being able to connect to the server and having UPnP "Not Available". With this problem I was often getting a DLNA error and now I have reset my PS3 a few times and tried to reconfigure the internet setting by just running it through the automatic set up again and I'm getting an error code: 80710092.  Is the network down? What's going on/What do I need to do?

jonfannar, the weird thing is that your laptop can connect through your access point but your PS3 cannot. Have the university technicians made sure your access point has the newest firmware update from Trendnet?

geographicnorth, UPnP not available is okay while you're trying to get a working internet connection. Are you using wired or wireless? If you are using wireless, can you test with a wired connection?
