Can't connect my PS3 to the internet?

4 replies 173 views Edited May 3, 2013

So my folks just moved recently, our internet has been reestablished, but I can't seem to connect my PS3 online.  I'm able to follow the connection settings, but then I receive an error message stating that I should check my LAN security settings.  Does that mean our router isn't allowing my PS3 to cooperate despite having entered the correct WPA password?  If so, how do I correct this?

Do the PS3's Internet test and see what, if anything, fails.

Make sure you are entering the wifi access point password correctly. Without this password the router wont give the PS3 access to the network/public internet. With that said, I often see this happen with WPA auth.  I don't know why.

Also, if you haven't already, restart your router and see if this fixes your issue.

For security reasons, I highly recommend the WEP2 auth method, AES encryption with an alphanumeric passphrase & preferably  padded with symbols.

I use these settings and it has always worked find with my sytem.

Since you're wireless, change the channel that the router is using for wifi.  usually fixes this problem.
