AMEX Gift Card 'not valid'

3 replies 516 views Edited Jan 21, 2012

I received an AMEX gift card as a gift, and every time I enter it on the PSN it says 'your entries are not valid.' I am able to check the funds online, so it does appear to be activated.

I did a yahoo answers, and it appears that http://answers.yahoo.com/question/answerBest?qid=20120120185728AA6mk13&kid=MbzyriZ4aa many prepaid cards are being declined by online merchants. I can't find anyone else with these problems on PSN though.

Any ideas on how to remedy this? Am I the only one experiencing this?

It's not an AMEX or a VISA or MSTERCARD thing, for some reason some, or actually the vast majority of pre-paid cards are not accepted online by Sony, I'm not sure why, sorry.

Use the AMEX card to buy a PSN card. Problem solved.

It's because Sony uses a certain varification process/feature, that most pre-paid cards don't use.
