can any on help me out with this issue? went to play black ops today signed in but the PS3 doesn't read my disc no errors come up at all, just doesnt show my game in the system. the only thing new that i did was install a required up date . Played fine yesterday. won't show any games that i put in  but will play movies. help!!

You checked this with other games? Did you check the back of the disc to see if it was clean? Smudges or scratched sometimes lead to the disc not being read. Well, your system sounds broken. If it's an older system then you may just want to replace it with a slim model. It's easier tan calling Sony technical support IMO.

So yeah, my advice is to save all the data you can from your current system, buy a new one, then transfer it over.

Does the rest of the system work?  Like can you play games that are on your hard drive?  My PS3 was having trouble reading disks.  It would show that they were in there but I couldn't use them.  It could read them for a little bit but then they would freeze.  I just replaced the blu ray drive and all was better.  I'm not sure if your's not reading the disk at all is the sign of a bigger problem that can't be fixed with this.  Does anybody know if that is his only problem?

same for me! it was working fine and then i did the update and out of no were the game doesnt show up in the games section! is this an update issue?

I think this happened to me before.  As a last resort before i sent it in, i backed up a lot of files and ran a system restore.  it worked.  been working for a year now with no problems.  i reccomend you try it, tell me if it works.

same with me! earlier today i was playing call of duty and now the disc icon wont show up?!

My black ops game wont play in my ps3, i put it in and  it wont work at all it was working fine and out of nowhere the ps3 wont play it.... it plays all of my games perfectly fine execpt for the black ops so i went and try it on my friend ps3 and is working, so them i went and bought a new black ops game and still doesn't work...i need help i keep my ps3 in good conditions dont no one plays it but me  and its still like brand new i reset it the ps3 and delete evrything in case someone send me a virus or hack but nothing i need help.

I know right so today I was playing mw3 on outpost at the end of the round the game just froze so then a little bit later I tried to play mw3 and the disc didn't show!!! It sounds like it's mostly call of dutys fault!!!

As for the OP, your Blu-ray laser has died or is dying. You will have to get it fixed, which you can do yourself or have someone else do it for you. If you do it yourself, here is a guide
