I'll be buying a couple of the slim PS2's this year so it isn't to late at all.

I didn't buy my PS2 till almost two years after the launch. Initially there weren't alot of games I wanted to play on it, but by the time the price cut rolled around the console was starting to hit it's stride.

So it's not really too late to buy a PS2. You have to ask yourself are there any games you want to rush out and play on the PS3 right away. I'm guessing alot of the really good titles won't be released for a while after the launch. Also the PS3 will be backward compatable and there are still going to be quite a few PS2 titles that will be released after the PS3 hits stores.

So take those factors into account before making a decision.

Playstation 3 is going to be worth a lot, and besides they might run out of stock, so it would be a good idea to just get a PS2 for now, and save up to get a PS3 when it becomes available.
