I also usually go for the guy, since it's easier to relate or put myself in that position. But in a game where characters and pre-made and I don't get to customize, if the chick is cooler or has better abilities, then I'll switch up. In fighting games, I could care less xD

well im a guy but it really depends if there are no differences other than looks ill go with a girl but looking at something like oblivion i make a guy because of the higher starting strength for melee damage and carrying weight

Gender of a particular game's hero has no bearing on whether or not I purchase/enjoy a game. If the game has an intriguing storyline and genuine characters that have personalities then I am most likely to enjoy it.

I don't really care, if during the game It switches me up between male or female. As-long as I still enjoy the game, that's all that matters to me!

Whether or not I choose a boy/man or girl/woman depends largely on the video game in question (if I’m given the choice in the first place). If I’m playing a video game that encourages me to become the character then I tend to choose the character whose gender matches mine but in the long run it really doesn’t matter to me.

Honestly, don't care. If a game has the option to create a character, I usually make one of each and design the guy around myself. Female character/design is just for something different. If they're a preset character, still doesn't bother me. I know I've read some comments in the past from people who avoid playing as female characters in games because it's 'weird' but whatever.
