Re: DLC has crossed the threshold of blatant rip off.

Yep, most DLC is a rip off. They keep doing what they do because they're people like you that will buy. I have not yet bought any DLC. Especially when most if not all DLC for PC is free.

This is all the proof anyone ever needed to not buy DLC.

This DLC is on the Blu-ray, requires no download.  It is only an activatable service.  It allows you to change the appearance of your character once.....   For $5................................................   I was going to buy WKC but their obvious disdain for the money we spend on games already and their down right greed in even attempting to charge to change a characters appearance has caused me to stop my purchase and boycott lvl 5 studios.  They think we are all ready to drink the cool-aid or something...   I think they have to be crazy as bat nuts to try and pull this over on us.

PS Store:

White Knight Chronicles International Edition Makeover Ticket ($4.99) File size: N/A

And yet DLC accounted for 15 billion dollars plus (I either saw that on xplay or IGN last month, I'm not sure) in sales for the industry last year. Rip off or not, we are still buying. Of course, the ultimate issue with DLC is the intelligence of the consumer that can buy it. No one forces us to buy anything. And yet if your really into a game and want some extra content, it's there for you to download. But, the bottom line is that it's still optional.

As for the disc based DLC vs the same DLC on the network, I think it's the ease of use factor. GOTY edtions with the extra content are not guaranteed. Besides, you have to go to the store to buy the disc. While DLC on the network is easier to access and download onto your HDD. Sure it maybe just a code that unlocks the DLC already on the disc. But, buying that code is still rather easy.

So my advice, use good judgement when buying DLC and always remember, you don't have to buy anything.
