What Home Space Music Do YOU Like? [RANT]

15 replies 14 views Edited Sep 2, 2010

Ok so not knowing if this has been done or not ima just post in hopes it is a first. (allthough i doubt it) Anyways here goes...

Alot of spaces on Home have decent music and alot more have horrible music. Whether it is a background track, Theme music, Actual music or even the small 10 second tun being played so repetativly that it becomes aggrivating after the first 5 minutes. So what music do you like best and why?

Before i end up giving my answer and why i want to do like i always do and try explaining a few things about this post. So bear with me, or just scroll to the bottom paraghraphs.

Music has from the begining of mankind evoked certaint emotions from people, And even animals in some cases. It inspires up to do good, Or even to smile. It can motivate us to get up and start our day. Some helps us understand ourselfs and helps bring a point of clarity. Other music can make us reailse a deep seated emotion and bring it to the surface for further review. Harder music can make our heart rates increase and get our testosterone pumping to high levels. Music can put some people to sleep and even sooth a small baby. It can make the day perfect or ruin it.

If you say that it has not done any of this for you, Or all of it then you are not being honest. Because music has done each of these to everyone on earth (Unless you are deff, But i will get into that later). Everyone is inspired by music throughout the day. It alters our mood subconsciously. So... What is music? Im not going to give the real defenition because i like interpreting things to my own views. So here is my thought of what Music is...

Music to me is the combination of sounds, rythem, and various other noises put together to create a specific theme that entertains the person within ear shot of it.

And that is close to the actual meaning. But everyone is influenced by music. Want an example? okay, I can do that... Here we go. Movies are visual images that stimulate certain thoughts and emotions within oneself. But without Music it is not as powerful. The lone woman walking down the hallway of a pitch black house with nothing but a knife in her hand. She knows there is someone else in the house because she heard a scuffle before the lights flickered and died, But where is the other person... At this point a rythem that can be defined as music plays that stimulates your brain and makes you more intune with the psychodrama that is within the movie. Makes you feel in it. Then somewhere in the background of the music you hear steady footsteps and then a heartbeat that increase in strenght as she walks more into the darkness. The combination of the scarry images is not as powerful as the sounds and music being played. trust me, I mute scarry movies alot to prevent bad dreams. lol.

As far as those who can not hear go, It is very unfortunate they can not experience everything the rest of us can. But they have a advantage we do not. They may not be able to hear it but they can actually feel what is going on. The vibrations of sound have become so much apart of them that they can feel the same way whenever watching a movie as we do. They can fell things we can not hear. So though it is a disadvantage to most, They are luckier in one way.

Home uses alot of these previously mentioned things to there advantage. They design a space just as a contracter will design a casino. They want it to make you feel a cetain way whenever you enter. So they make it look, Feel, And sound the way they want. Good example, Allthough along the morbid side again... Siren. It is dark, Foggy and in the background of the crickets and footsteps you hear things like people breathing and gun shots and a ton of other things that provide a over all feeling and rythm. And if music is rythem then even the small things in Siren can be music.

The Wipeout space is my newer favorite space for the music. It used to be the Ratchet and Clank disco floor because i LOVE that song, But Wipeouts music has owned it so far.Wipeout you can choose what YOU want to listen to so you are not bothered by a song you do not want to hear. People can not purposfully aggrivate you by choosing a bad song (like chain swing in central plaza). You are in controll. The techno and electronic sounds are amazing, And the space itself because it is futuristic looking, Makes it even better.

Music and rythemes and sounds affect us because of something alot of people may not fully understand... In our primitive days we thought with our bicameral mind (One side more active then the other, Or the only side working) so out thought process was limited drastically. And im our first instruments like drums and even a bow being plucked, we found a way to become one with ourselfs and one another. As well as express ourselfs to others. Whenever there wasnt any words, One could convey anger by screeching and smacking ones chest a few good times. Or smack a drum rapidly to express a fight soon. We still do it to this day. Hit ourselfs to prove our dominance, Punch something to show we are strong. But it is the sounds of it that can be more powerful than the action itself. Whenever we where drawing on stone walls using mud and clay we expressed ourselfs through art. It has been apart of us and will never change. Music has been apart of us and is so deeply rooted in our minds and souls that it will never go away either.

From a V6 tuner car with a loud muffler on it being mistaken for a tricked out sports car, To a Harley Davidson with no baffels in the pipes being mistaken for having Heads. Sounds create music and music creates emotions. A single cricket chirping all night long makes me mad and frusturated. But a choir of them puts me to sleep.

So based on how Home spaces and music affects your emotions, Which spaces do you all like? Is there one you go to whenever mad? How about whenever you just want to relaz by yourself? Is there one space you simply can not stand due to the music irking you to the point of no return?

I ask this because people go to certain spaces for the music and they do not even realise it. So think about it and let me know. who knows, Someone could be feeling upset at general life and looking for a space to go to right this minute. But they may not have any idea what space is the most relaxing.

Oh, And my favorite music on Home is the Wipeout Space, With the Minis space in a close second.

   Have Fun!

I liked the first Mall music better than the generic elevator music we have now. It's not so bad or whatever, just, yeah, it bites. Most of the time, the t.v is mute so I listen to my itunes. Whatever music I listen to, half of the time syncs with my mood. If I'm ever mad, I take it out on gratuitous video game violence or confront the problem and meet it with a headbutt, a fist, elbow, or boots. Only one time, while on Home, I've told a group of people (only one of them were dressed as a default) that I don't really like talking to people who I think'll just waste my time and patience. They (like anyone) took it offensively and started "shooting stars" at me. From then, I promised not to get on Home grumpy again. Honestly, I like walking in open spaces while keeping to myself, but only for so long until people come to talk. I'll talk back, but not if it's just the Nemesis speech (please tell me someone caught that!). I think the only space I can't stand (ironically) is the central plaza. Place is just full of people trying to troll (though I said my piece about trolls in the past thread) and elitists who think because they wear store bought items and glitch, that they're the sphincter excrement. That's sort of off topic, but to bring it back, I'm just not a fan of the Listen@Home tracks. Only one song I really liked, but it's gone and it's on my ipod, so yeah.

I have not heard the first Mall music that was placed in Home so i can not relate. I did hear though that it is being used in the GamesCon space. As to if this is true of not, I have no idea.

CP is troll haven, And a waste of time in general. if your trying to accomplish something or hang out with friends, this is not the place to do it. But one good thing about CP is the sunny Lavine songs in Listen@Home. I like there techno sound. Song number one is epic. But back to the topic... If you can type fast as i can and glitch then you are someone i can speak to. If not, Then... Well, Forget it.

And i have absolutely NO idea why i decided to use pink. If was just fitting i guess. lol. Once again killla thanks for posting on my discussion, I look forward to your reply every single time because you tell what you think. Not fake it like most.

CP is somewhat a waste of time (probably to most), but I like to revisit places that I first started Home with. I still go back to my harbor studio whenever I get into Home. The only thing accomplishable in the central plaza is playing the saucer pop game, as well as some of the events they hold, like the turkey hunt (or whatever it was), and the 4th of July thing (could've been better, but at least we got something). Those aren't the only reasons I visit the CP though, other places are either boring and have no one there, or I have little interest in returning. Like the Far Cry 2 space, which fits in both reasons why I won't go somewhere.

Do most of your posts include rant chris? lol (not bagging on you)

Well...I would have to say the only song I ever liked in PSHome was El Dorado Mix-DJ Shadow back when I started in PSHome.

Chain Swing (Hurries to the top of a tower)....was Ok...a first. Im not one for rap/hip hop (except 80's that was real stuff :smileywink:) but it was ok until I heard it  (OVER 9000!!!!) times then it got boring.

I kind of also like the bootleg 80's music from Playground

Batman-Why do we fall? WE fall so we can learn to get back up!
Nightwing- No! that's not true, we fall because SOMEONE pushes us. We get up....to Push Back!

Hmm, Now that i think about it all of my discussions are rants. Most of my posts on others discussions are short and sweet. But things are mentioned and not really explained in them which aggrivates me. If your going to waste the time posting something then get something out of by helping others understand. In my posts on others discussions i remember what they have said and complained about. Then i come up with a decent explination of it and attempt to explaine it in detail for everyone to understand.

As far as all these other discussions go where people give it a good title then when you click on it it basically says

"I dont like this and here is how mad i am"

If your going to make something for people to read, Make it something they have to actually think about to comprehend. Make them think about it while ther reading it and make it so they can relate to it. You want your readers to see how it applies to them, not just "Oh, that does suck... i Agree!".

I dont know, Im probably insane and the only one who thinks this but i can say that even though i dont get as many kudos as the smaller and less intilectuall discussions, At least i can say mine are more genuine.

I forgot about that spaces music actually. Man it is time for me to go chill there for awhile. Hot Shots Golf has a good classical type of thing. Reminds me of a coffee bar you go to at 5:30am and sit there and sip hot coffeewhile pondering the meaning of life.
