Watch Moives in Home Cinema... just as if you went to the Cinema!

44 replies 21 views Edited May 24, 2007
Here's an idea... instead of only showing movie trailers in Home Cinema... why not have real life showings of the latest movies, just like going to the cinema?  Obviously you'd have to pay to watch the movie.  But wouldn't it be good to go an watch a movie, on the day it was released at Home Cinema, instead of going to the actual real movies???  I think it would.  What do you think?  Should sony make Home Cinema like a real Cinema???

Well, im not sure if they would wnat to do that, because you would have some guy out their recording it and stuff, and there will be even more bootlegs out there, but these bootlegs will have good quality and stuff.

To those who say Home has long load times. It took Home 47 seconds to load Motorstorm into its online lobby with 11 other people in the party.

HDCP might be able to keep that from happening but I doubt it.  I know bandwidth shouldnt be an issue as long as its buffered properly.  I have Fios TV and it works great.  I think you should be able to download it to your HDD and watch it for X amount of days as well like PPV on demand.

That OP was EPIC. I especially liked the Mahatma Ghandi and Winston Churchill quotes. The Biblical references were also nice.

It sounds great, but I think the biggest problem with this would be piracy issues. People would be video recording and everything else. And unlike the theatres, there is no one to catch you in the act.

Also, would Sony make it like the real cinemas where you have to pay EACH time you watch it? Can't just watch it over and over again. So they would have to charge each time you want to watch it. ($8.60 on average here)

The second reason is not that hard to get around, but I think Sony would have to worry about people copying the movies, etc. Not like it doesn't happen now, but like I said, there is no one to catch you.

REGARDLESS, good idea!
