Re: Trolls, Stalkers, and Freezers Win - for Now

You can try to convince a lot of people in the world that Sony is not a respactable corporation. My opinion doesn't matter. try arguing with the world.

Good luck with that.

See, thats not my concern or care either way it goes.

Its not my job to convince people to view Sony as being respectable or not. I dont spend their money for them.

But common sense eludes to the fact that if a particular foreign electronic imported product is the main staple for sales at Walmart, or Target.... then theres a reason why.

This is 2012 and quantity does not always mean quality.

So if you sleep in Sony pajamas, while in your Sony bed, with Sony sheets...more power to you. But dont go forcing down everyones throat how "respectable" they are.

Especially when you dont have your facts straight.

Well, it's not your opinion nor mine that matters in the greater picture. This matter will be resolved in the court of public opinion. Sure, maybe "some of the people on the forum can be convinced, but not all. And lets not forget the vast majority of home users who never even look at this message board. And the billions of Sony customers who don't even know Home exists. People who don't game but buy other Sony products. Do any of you really think this message board can effect Sony's bottom line?

Good luck with that.

Re: Trolls, Stalkers, and Freezers Win - for Now

[ Edited ]

First of all, this thread was about Trolls, Stalkers, and Freezers.

You singlehandedly derailed it with your assertions of how it was everyone elses fault but the freezers (as you have done in many other threads).

Secondly you began on and on about how glorious the Sony empire was.

Now, perhaps you dont understand the difference in mass production and quality production, but I realize trying to explain the difference to you is like teaching houseflies calculus.

The film and recording industries are Sony's primary interests (thus the name change to Sony Entertainment).

So with that being said...I guess it doesnt seem odd to you that the glorious Sony corporate megalith hasnt taken immediate steps to prevent freezing, nor apply swifter punishments to those that violate their Terms of Service.

Also I guess its acceptable to you that there are people who have suffered thru the YLOD all because of a few script kiddies who relish the fact that they can freeze servers.

So I guess theyre just casualties of war and unimportant.

In addition you claim that Sony has billions of customers, could you please show me where you're getting your figures please ?

Or are you just making these things up as you go along again ?

And if reading is so fundamental as you stated earlier, what part of me not caring or trying to convince anyone of anything did you seem to miss ?

So the bottom line is still the bottom line...you can cheerlead for Sony till the wheels fall off, but in the end their customer service, support, and products line is reflective of the corporation.

I look forward to seeing you in the next Sony commercial...as a cardboard prop.

No, to assume a corporation as respectable as Sony would deliberately allow consoles to be damaged expecting customers to buy new ones is wild speculation, because there have been many years of proven sales tactics suggesting that that is a reckless strategy.

However, "assuming" that a company is developing a version of a product to operate on a system that we already know is in development is not wild speculation. It is an assumption but it is one based on common sense.

BTW: are you suggesting that there is a backhanded insult in the post you quoted? Please clarify.

Ah I think you assume too much when it comes to Sony. They are very guarded about such matters and rightfully so. We ourselves can't assume that Home will make the transition to the PS4 as we have no idea the investment nor the potential revenue...hopefully it will, but you can't just assume it.  Furthermore, you seemed to suggest that said version of Home would be free from these "freezing problems" we are experiencing now. You can't assume this either...hence it is "wild speculation".

As far as suggesting that you made some "backhanded insult" in the post I quoted, no...you were hardly subtle. I was referring more to the "choice of wording" bit you made in another post.

This  post is condescending:

That concept is some pretty wild speculation. Sony didn't get to be one of the largest technology corporations in the world by making stupid business decisions, and that would be a pretty stupid one. I know that If my PS3 was ruined because of something that occurred within Sony's network, I certainly wouldn't be inclined to buy another one.

Sony knows that any successful sales business depends on customer satisfaction and repeat business. I'm sure Sony does not expect dissatisfied customers to go out and buy another PS3. That concept is ridiculous.

as is this:

 reading comprehension is your friend

and this:

Ok, let me re-state my postings in this thread in a way that even the viewers of Barney the purple dinosaur can understand

as were the 6 "ughs" you used to emphasize your points below that.

I really don't care how you wish to carry yourself Brises, but it seems hypocritical to argue that someone's post loses validity because of the way they choose to word it when your own can be condescending and insulting at times.

I'm all for good debate and butting heads...I enjoy it in fact.I just won't make such claims...it would be very hypocritical of me.

Re: Trolls, Stalkers, and Freezers Win - for Now

I will never throw in the towel. Such folks will never win. And even though I have met a few, they are rare enough for me to almost not notice them. And when they have been around, I simply asked them politely to stop and continued with whatever I was doing - tuning them out.

When I tune them out, they can say the nastiest things and I will not respond. I do not use Block or Ignore. And I continue playing whatever game I am involved with. My enjoyment in Home is not dependent on others, but my own attitude. And my attitude is great.

And there have been a few times when I have had a private chat with these trolls and stalkers. I invited, and they accepted, my invitation to come speak privately in my "office". Most who visit express their fear of being perma-banned. That they are putting on a show for their friends and "fams". In such a case, I act as a counselor and and listen to and advise them.

But in the end, Home is what I make of it. And so far, I am having a great time. No one will make me upset enough to leave. I am in control of my enjoyment of Home. No one else is.

The way you play the game is the way you live your life.

Re: Trolls, Stalkers, and Freezers Win - for Now

I did not start this thread as a condemnation of Sony.   I wanted to point out that there ARE ways to cope with this situation for now (stay out of the public spaces that we know are target areas for the freezers, have events in Club Rooms and personal spaces, and find ways to have fun in Home  without getting our PS3's  trashed).   I really hoped other readers would have suggestions and advice on things to do.

I am also wondering if some places are safer than others.  For example, I never got frozen playing Orb Runner in Aurora.  But I had to release my dolphies because dolphy racing became impossible.  Are there any other developer-owned spaces that are less or more hazardous?

And, does anyone have any good ideas that could be used for user-created events in Club Rooms that could be open to everyone, not just to one club?  Yes, I realize that one is tough because we are allowed to own only one Club Room, and people have to have space on their club membership list to accept another club, even if it is only for a few hours, and parties tend to be a bit lacking in concept and theme, but it would beat being frozen 3 times in one day at the Dolphy Races.

As for the situation that Sony is in:  they are like the store owner whose plate glass windows get broken whenever a riot is started in their neighborhood.  You cannot blame the store owner for being a target for malicious vandals.  Put in bullet proof, shatter proof glass and they will just drive a stolen car through it.    And the store's regular customers just have to hope the store owner doesn't decide to close down completely and give up.

What's needed are some positive suggestions and constructive criticisms.  Not more attacks.  Let's get back on track.

Re: Trolls, Stalkers, and Freezers Win - for Now

[ Edited ]

There are some spaces that I seldom if ever seem to freeze in when visiting (Southern Island, and The Casino to name a couple) but I think this is simply because, for whatever reason, there doesn't seem to be many freezers that frequent those spaces.

I guess much depends also on the type of events you wish to hold. Obviously if it's to be more or less "private" (you'll be inviting only people whom you know) then the clubhouse option might work well. If you wish to invite the public well then no matter where it is you'll still ulitimately be at the mercy of those in attendence and/or people they know who may show up.

I agree with your "store window" analogy to some degree. The difference being though that the vandalized stores customers don't suffer nearly as much as the people getting froze here do. I think it's the Home community (the customers as it were) not Sony (the store owner) who suffers the most.

Good luck with your future events at any rate.

Re: Trolls, Stalkers, and Freezers Win - for Now

Public Space events rely primarily on word of mouth or thru invitation.

In many cases, all it takes for freezers to find your event and target it, is to simply have someone attending the event thats on their friends list and they can follow them.

Even (and especially) if its on a private server.

Just as you and I have the freedom of mobility to go where we choose to in home, unfortunately so do rogue groups of people.

It wouldnt make much sense to create a listing of "safer" public spaces here in these forums because...well quite frankly there are freezers that read and even comment in these very forums.

While private events in personal spaces and clubhouses do offer more security from these people because we have more control over who is allowed in and to stay, it also restricts us as a community on where we can and cant freely navigate while in Home free from disruption.

But...I'd try some of the older less frequented spaces to start just to see the types of traffic it gets during certain times and that might help a bit.

Re: Trolls, Stalkers, and Freezers Win - for Now

Great thread Granny. The simple solution to this problem is to stop spending money in Home until Sony takes action to ban the known freezers and the people that assist them. Sony knows who they are and they know all their alts and the people that assist them.

Let 3rd party devs like Lockwood, nDreams, Hellfire and Veemee know that you aren't buying their products because Sony refuses to provide a permanent soultion to this problem.
