Re: The Official HomeStation Magazine (HSM) Thread

Aloha, HSM readers!

Today's article is an examination of the Macross Concert in Japan Home, written by the HomeCast's HearItWow!

Marketing in Home is a fairly straightforward formula: create a limited-run event in Central Plaza/Home Square, perhaps develop a public space to showcase your wares (possibly with mini-game), and offer ubiquitous T-shirts or other swag to drive visitor participation. Maximize numbers at minimum cost.

Is there, however, another way to market in Home? And might we see it in America or Europe soon?

Aloha, HSM readers!

Today's publication is an article examining one of Home's most influential third-party developers: Lockwood Publishing.

johneboy1970, a member of the Homeling Collective and guest contributor to HomeStation Magazine, gives a personal account of why Lockwood is such a fantastic developer in Home, and looks at some of their greatest contributions to Home itself as well as its community.

As a reminder, the Silicon Lounge is presently scheduled for release on August 25th, and members of the HSM team are happy to offer preview tours of it to you! Please let us know if we may be of service.

Aloha, HSM readers!

Today's article is a review of Flower (written by Orion_NGC1976), the wonderfully unique video game which defies easy description. In an industry where so many game titles seem to blur together, Flower stands out as something truly special and different. Is it the sort of game that you would enjoy playing?

Aloha, HSM readers!

Today's article -- http://www.hsmagazine.net/2011/08/home-as-an-extension-or-escape/ -- written by Gideon from HairBrained Ideas, poses an interesting question: is Home an extension of reality or an escape from it? Home is a social network for gamers, yes, but what unspoken social mores do we have to abide by in a society where identity itself is fluid? What of the gamers who came into Home simply for some escapism, and to find other people to game with?

I'd like to mention that this article is quite superlative, and asks a lot of questions for all of us to ponder.

Re: The Official HomeStation Magazine (HSM) Thread

HSM understood the problems we Asian players faced when compared to other regions....

The aim of this article is hopefully to appeal tro the other publishers as well as to share their works to the various masses as well like what Lockwood, codeglue and nDreams have done.

Aloha, HSM readers!

Today's article, written by Burbie52 (head of the Grey Gamers), sheds light on a fascinating revelation: that while much of Home may require money to enjoy, the dramatic expansion of content over the last two years has produced the ability for a savvy user to completely outfit his or her avatar with a considerable wardrobe and selection of furniture -- absolutely free. Sure, it takes some time and patience, but think of it like a giant treasure hunt. And enjoy the journey.

If you are not participating in the two big Lockwood Silicon Lounge contests, WHY NOT?  You can read all the rules for the photo contest in HSM - plus - you can visit one of the HSM Silicon Lounges to shoot your contest photos.  Just send a message to DarthGranny for an invite.  And the second big contest is by Alphazone4.  If you haven't been to both of these websites, you are missing out on big opportunities.

Re: The Official HomeStation Magazine (HSM) Thread

Aloha, HSM readers!

Today's article is actually a collaboration of four HSM team members: Gideon, Burbie, Keara and Orion!

The premise: does being a certain gender make it easier to facilitate communication in Home? All four team members tried a series of activities as both male and female genders, and recorded the events that took place. The results were fascinating -- and even downright surprising, in some instances.

Needless to say, given the scope of this social issue and the incredible work that went into it from four different team members, I personally think this is a must-read. Let us know what you thought of it!
