Just about everything you can do in Home can also be done through the XMB.

I think he means that you're not missing out on any essential features by not using HOME. You can still view pictures, watch movies and listen to music through the XMB, as well as launch games. IT's just that HOME is a flashier and more social way of doing it.

well it says JUST ABOUT everything, so there is obviously some things that can only be done in home
but..

But in Home you can create and even auction off clothing and furniture. Well, eventually you can.

True, but you can launch them from Home

I think what they mean by "you can't do in Home" is that you won't be able to play the arcade games they have setup and like, participate in the auctions and whatnot. Nothing major.
