We're excited to let you know that we will introduce a new patch in PlayStation Home next week (Home v1.75) and we will be transferring your save data from the PS3 hard drive and onto the Home Servers.
This will generally improve performance and means that your save data will be available should you ever need to reinstall Home or login from a different PS3. Your save data will be transferred from your PS3 to our servers when you first install the patch. This process will only occur once per account and you will be informed that the save data transfer take place via an install message.
Once the transfer is complete, Home will only read your save data from the Home Servers. As such any backup data or saved data you may have on another PS3 will no longer be accessible.
The save data being transferred includes your Preferences, Character Saves and Apartment Furniture Layouts.
The transfer process will not affect your Purchases and Rewards which are already stored on the Home Servers.
Since this is unusual to pre-announce a feature of a platform update, it is to give ample time to our core users who may use several versions of their save files, manually updating them from from a backed up source—this is to let you know to put your main saves on the hard drive prior to launching Home the first time after it updates to version 1.75.
The rest of the official patch notes will be released in the blog the week it comes out. Get ready! There's never a dull day in Home.
Enjoy!
I'm a little concerned about this update to say the lest. Seems like every time this happens people lose items. I know your telling us that: "The transfer process will not affect your Purchases and Rewards which are already stored on the Home Servers." but if I remember right haven't we lost items in the past? For example the criss angel items/CB items where if we where not using them they where lost for good. Should we expect more lost items in this update?
Also seeing how everything will now be saved on the Sony servers doesn't that mean that it will now take longer to load into these places? Where before everthing was saved on our PS3's wich saved download times.
I would also like to know if we will be getting anything else in this update?

It should improve load times for guests, hopefully. Now guests can load the host's apartment directly from the server instead of from the host's PS3 via the server. Not sure otherwise. Loading personal spaces should function like loading a smaller, empty public space, I'd estimate.

Can we expect to see multiple save slots on the servers at any point in the near future?
How does this affect picture frames? Do our picture files need to be uploaded to the servers?
Will this patch increase the chances of item limit increases for apartments?
Will this enable wardrobe changes for apartment guests?
Thanks in advance, GW.
We will still have the multiple avatar save slots, just not multiple sets of save slots. However, we're also working on adding additional save slots in future versions of Home, so rest assured, we're keeping options in mind.
I do not know how Picture Frames will be affected, but I would assume they will appear the same once your current versions are uploaded, just as they are now. I will inquire for more info though.
The rest of the patch notes will be released in full when Home 1.75 arrives in the weekly blog post. Look for them there.
I'm glad to share this with you all a bit early, however unusual, but I wanted to make sure you all have ample time to prepare.

It's good to see that NA managers read the EU blogs like the rest of us to find out what's happening in PS Home.

We planned to sync release this information (and it was all released within the same hour globally), and I don't appreciate your tone. Knock it off julie. I expect better from you.

That was never an issue related to a platform update, but we like to reassure that it will not be a problem. Way back in the day, some items were affected due to the old reward system which has since had all its issues taken care of to improve a consistent and reliable experience.

Its gonna be a WHOLE LOTTA hoppin mad people that use ISE's. LOLLLLLLLLLLL
If the settings are auto stored on Home's servers now, then exploits such as Xploder and other methods just got a death certificate with this new core patch/update.
Watch how many people start whining about this once the news travels.
