Glitching in Home Yay or Nay?

I thought of to make this thread because I've seen many people get into weird places. For example getting inside the bar in the Uncharted room, or getting on top of benches or chairs and stuff like that is it a yay or nay for you? I'm going to list the positive and negative ways of gltiching, and my personal opioion about it:

Postitive:

1. It can give the home develpoer a chance to stop that gltich by in a update or something.

2. It does give something to do inside of home. (I know corney)

Negative:

1. It can freeze up your system

2. Hurt other peoples expernices in home

3. Not telling the people how to do that gltich

4. Not posting it keeping it hush hush

5. Similar to number 4 you don't tell the game devlopers about that and they don't fix it

My personal opioion is that I think its a waste of time and not needed. Many people know my feelings about Gltiching but some of you I don't. Thought I would put this issue on the forums "to Gltich or not to gltich that is the question". Other reasons why I don't do gltiching is because that I would rather use the time that I do have worth while instead of wasting my time and possibly hurting my system in the process if I do it enough.

In other words I would rather earn trophies all day instead of gltiching. To be completly honest with you guys, no offense to anyone on here, completly my opioion I think gltiching is something for people that have alot of time on there hands. I know I"m going to get a snappy comment saying "Oh what about you then, huh?" Also I just don't think about gltiching when I'm playing or using home only when I see someone in a weird spot in burnout or in home. Its annoying when there not playing or using the game fairly (well you know the other thing). I'll accept any crtctism I get from this post and if you agree with me (I'll be shocked) then well you guys choose if you wanna screw up your system or not.

Nay.

Some of the people I see in Home act all high and mighty when I see them in the mall, dancing on the rails and levitating over the small lake and not telling people how they can do it. I don't care if I can't do the glitches. I have better things to do than waste my time floating in the air, making people feel bad because I don't want to tell them how to do it.

Re: Glitching in Home Yay or Nay?

This isn't an MMORPG where glitching can give the player some sort of advantage. Unless someone finds a glitch that allows them to obtain items for free which are supposed to cost money, I don't think a valid argument can be made that glitching has any tangible effect on anyone aside from those who do it (expense of their time). Perhaps you can argue that when those in the know refuse to tell those not in the know, that those not in the know are affected, but honestly, who cares? Is it a big deal that someone knows how to get behind a bar or onto a rooftop and others don't? Within a week, knowledge of every glitch is disseminated to the greater community anyhow.

Re: Glitching in Home Yay or Nay?

People who walk on rails or float in the air are showing off. In my opinion, once you have done it, there is no other reason other than to make yourself look the fool. If I've seen one fool, I 'v seen a thousand others just like them.

Also, if you discover a glitch, it should be reported immediately via a PM to a developer or administrator and not posted on the forums. Especially if the glitch can be exploited for personal gain. An example would be if someone found a way to get all Mall items for free. That would not be fair to the rest of the community and it would cut into the income SCEA needs to pay for Home's development and growth. This would in turn affect us.  And, I read the other day that that SCE may include auctions in Home. Will that be affected by the glitch I used as an example?

The bottom line: Glitches should be reported and not posted.

Read the third post. Certain glitches have the potential to become a problem.

Re: Glitching in Home Yay or Nay?

I say; YAY!!!!!

A long time ago me and a friend were bitter rivals in Street Fighter 2 we were always yelling back and fourth "That's not fair to keep doing that" (after finding something that seemed unstoppable) Finally, we both agreed to the terms that; "Anything the game allows is fair" because that's just how the game works and anyone can do the same thing!

I think the same principal applys here. Also, if the game company is sloppy enough to let a glich slip by, then why not exploit it!? Everyone else can do the same thing! Plus, game makers can make paches now!! It's just plain lazy for them not to fix a glich!

Like someone else mentioned, Home is different from a game. Glich all you want!!! Damage to your data or system (same thing really) can happen (sometimes does sometimes doesen't) when you go beyond where even the programmers aren't supposed to go (outside the programmable area) Any moderators feel free to correct me on my last statement if It's not true. It's just my experence!! XD

yeah man I just re-read that post again and Im not exactly sure what you mean. I assumed the example glitch you gave was hypothetical and not a real one. If it is real than I agree with you, but otherwise I cant condemn glitching as long as no harmful ones have been discovered (that affect other users besides the glitching person negatively). A potential glitch like that I would think to be very unlikely; the only real harm I would see is people freezing up their own systems, which I have no problem with

The potential for harm is not enough for me(unless it goes from just possible to probable or likely), as there is potential for harm with everything. But yeah I agree with you that they should not be posted on this forum as I have seen in the past (people trying to justify it saying they want to make the managers aware, but as you said a simple PM will do).
