Consumables, Disconnects & You

7 replies 352 views Edited May 5, 2013

We've probably all experienced disconnects from Home. I suffer from them all the time since the last update and while annoying, it wasn't a problem to just load up Home again. Nowadays though, many games require tickets to play or have consumables to boost your experience and these cost real money. The problem is when you get disconnected in the middle of a game, you are now out a ticket.

Digital Leisure is the only developer I know of that will return lost coins due to disconnects (although the Casino doesn't use tickets its similar enough). I'm just curious what others think about this issue.

I may be alone on this but I find that since the last update I barely disconnect in PlayStation Home anymore, I think I may have received one M-10 error in the past two weeks and that's really it.

As for games with features like needing tickets, chips, consumables, etc I honestly don't play them to much, the only issue I see is with acorns in the meadow park, in which case it would be nice if they implemented a different paying characteristic, maybe once you're done the activity, "then" you pay your acorns and so that way if you disconnect it's not a big issue.

Unfortunately I get the feeling people would find a way to abuse a system like that though.

I was on home this afternoon and my friend got disconnected about every 40 minutes or so.

M10 after M10, it was getting ridiculous. Meanwhile I never suffered a single disconnect, hmmmmmm, makes you wonder....

I feel that if anyone spends money and gets disconnected from home, they should be entitled to some kind of reparation, whether it be in tickets or coins.

That would certainly be nice. I'm reluctant to buy tickets & such very often because of this. Now that the 1.8 update is out I'm hoping Sony will focus on these disconnect issues.

I was suffering from all host of errors from M-10 to M-25 this past Friday and keep missing friends logging in  or out because of them. It was irritating to say the least. :smileyfrustrated: Go thing I did not go to So. Island Friday because I still have one fossil yet to get from the PAID section. :smileysad:

I second KITT, if you do suffer from errors, you should be entitled to getting your coins/tickets (what ever was spent at the time of the error) back. Luckily, this did not happen to me when I had the spate of errors (whew!) If this does happen though, definitely contact PS Support or the dev (in this case, DL has a good handles on this when it comes to matters in the Casino) with the time the error occured, what you were doing and what was spent. Documentation is always good.

@Lego - Consider yourself super lucky to only get this once since 1.8.... *golf clap* :smileyvery-happy:

As a rewards addict, I use most of Home's consumables. I rarely have disconnects, and I average 8 hours daily on Home. Of course I have lost a play on games over the years, but I see less problems now than a year ago. Generally it is a non issue for me and I use lots of these items across many developers.

The only place I really worry about this is acorn medows since it is known digital leisure has no issue returning lost chips. Acorns aren't that easy to get since they require you to level, if the level is saved but the acrons are taking from a disconnect there is no way to get them back. I like the idea of acorns not being taken until after the activity concludes even if that is mildly abuseable.

I visit a lot of spaces that sell tickets though. Southern Island Hideaway paid site, Midway, Peakvox Labs, Yeckland, etc. I got disconnected four times playing Orb Runner in Aurora tonight which is why I won't buy consumables there.
