A PlayStation Home, internet connection question.

20 replies 247 views Edited Dec 29, 2013
Question: What is a good speed for internet connection, to be on PlayStation Home.?

I ask this, because the PlayStation network is moving extremely slow.

And I'm connected to the network, using Ethernet.

2MB sufficed only a couple of years ago.
Rule of thumb is faster the better. I found having 10MB + and using wired was the best way to play!

Jersquall: Any new news on Home on PS4 yet?

Tempest_Fire: Due to a shifting landscape, PlayStation Home will cease publishing new content on November 12, 2014.

Everything is erratic since Christmas. Traffic issue. Just take a look at most support section. New users have it even worst than we do.

To be honest your Ping rate, while not too bad, is on the slow side for the Download and Upload speeds you claim. Even though its not too bad a slow Ping rate will have a great affect with online gaming of any kind. Also like Ed said your best bet, if you can, is to run your setup wired and not wireless. I know that is not possible for some but if you run wireless you will not see those speeds your getting at your computer and your Ping rate will be EVEN slower, which really won't be good and is where most lag comes from.

This is just the basics for your info, there are a ton more reasons for slow speeds that I'm not about to get into right now. Hope the info helps in some way and good luck on your connection.

Tranny had an issue last year for a couple of weeks where the speed was dropped to 1.5 MB (error caused by online provider), made going on Home impossible. 1.5 wouldn't have even cut it on Home 5 years ago.

Indeed Tranny and they can do that at anytime for many reasons.. I also had my modem go bad last year which cause my speeds to drop right off and my Ping rate was outrageously slow. And 1.5 - 2 mb was never a sufficient speed, not even 7-8 years ago when the PS3 came out, no less 5 years ago.
