This was one of those knuckle dragging people I was on about.
Jersquall: Any new news on Home on PS4 yet?
Tempest_Fire: Due to a shifting landscape, PlayStation Home will cease publishing new content on November 12, 2014.
The first closed beta started with 3 groups of 5000 users added over 3 weeks for a total of 15,000 invites sent out. I was given the beta access on the third week on 5/15/07. If you got in on the first wave it would have been 5/1/07.
@Oldtimer01 as one of the earliest CB users here, would you care describing what it was like then? Any cool items you got to keep? Would love to hear. Pics would be really cool, but it was 7 years ago so I wouldnt blame you. That and the lack of an in game camera back then...
I don't have any pics of it but it was nothing like is is now or even like it was when it went public. There were 3 spaces in total. An apartment, the bowling alley and an indoor park. All 3 were linked together through the indoor park by basically doors you went through, no teleporting to where you wanted to go. The bowling alley had, if I remember right, 6 lanes a few arcade machines and a couple pool tables. The park didn't have much of anything in it, just a door at each end to go to either the bowling alley or your apartment. There were not many choices in clothes, maybe 5 or 6 shirts and a few pairs of pants that I think transfered over through all the changes in home The apartment was very basic,1 room with a staircase that led to the doorway to the park. There wasn't much in terms of furniture or decorations and some changeable wallpapers, 8 of them, that were absent after a couple of the major updates. The wallpapers were a nice touch to add varity in apartment design (I reaaly miss the Resistance wallpaper they had). Every time there was an update you had to redo your avatar and apartment. It wasn't until after the expanded closed beta that avatars were saved. There were a few different changes in Home through the closed beta that added the outdoor Central Plaza with chess sets and facades for the Bowling alley and the Theater as well as getting into your apartment. It would be nice to see some of the original old spaces return as they all had their own appeal to them.
Almost forgot that in the beginning voice chat was enabled but was removed after a few months.
