Will Home compeletely replace the XMB?

30 replies 2 views Edited Jun 29, 2007
Cuz when you're in home you can play games, listen to music, chat, and go to the XMB thing, wouldn't there be no point in going to the main XMB?

Yeah maybe one day in the future when we turn our ps3s on it will bring us straight to Home which is more then possible. It could be just like starting a game on bootup thats in the drive.

well they said it would be an optional download so it wouldn't replace it. The XMB will be the same for now except when someone finds out a way to use custom fonts. Home will be just a XMB add-on just like folding@home.

The only thing home really has a chance of replacing is the PLAYSTATION store / network. The XMB will not be replaced by home, home is an application that runs on the XMB and the foot hold for alot of middle-ware that will improve the PLAYSTATION 3 experience. From a few interviews we know that there will be 'Shortcuts' that will allow users to jump to their trophy room from the XMB; also we know that music and photos are taken from the XMB and streamed into the game service.

The XMB is and, to the best of my judgment and knowledge, always will be the foundation of the PLAYSTATION 3 experience.

i highly doubt that HOME will replace the XMB.  not everybody that has a PS3 has an internet connection to it.
