I have heard it argued that different spellings intone different attributes to the word, ranging from indifferent to troll and pervert. I take the stance that words have whatever meaning the people using and hearing them decide that they have. Words are fluid and ever evolving.
This particular word is at a crossroads. Some view it as harmless while others apply very negative thoughts and images onto it. It is for this reason, that I generally avoid its use, to avoid confusion. I will just say someone is new, instead. No point in starting an argument, hurting someone's feelings, or leaving a bad impression, for the sake of attempting to use word that is in flux. That's just my opinion, though. I could be wrong. Again.
Hello, I thought I'd share this link with you as I have found it to be the best point of reference on the word noob. I hope it helps you and all home community member understand the word noob a little better.
Seeing as this has been posted onto the home forum, the Home meaning of a noob or a "Default" is someone without purchased clothing, who also happens to be new.
Wrong. I have a friend who's been on Home for years who just spent their first dime a few months ago.
I like the word "New" myself.
It's simple, direct with little room for misunderstandings.
