Re: Western Frontier Discussion Thread

Overall I think the place is nice. The gold/token thing is a bit misleading but it's something different.

A do have a problem with paying everytime you want to play. Like the old arcade machine.

I don't have any issue against consummable. But  I won't sink quarters in mini game and have no time for grinding in a home mini game.

Real freedom is the power to say yes.

The space is good, the tumble weeds are looking more like rocks BUT..you can move them with your avatar lol The idea of having to buy a new pick axe for mining isnt that appealing to me. Overall i may just use it as a hangout location and play a game now and then but i dont see me spending much in this space.

     Hiya Friends,

There was a Q&A with digitalleisure at 8pm (ET) tonight (2013/11/20).  I was able to soak in all of what digitalleisure had to share with us at the Q&A.

I haven't been able to get into this space yet. Everytime I tried I would either get a network error or freeze.

A bit harsh, but I agree with a lot of the criticisms and the suggestions.

Btw, you can exit "Western Frontier" and wear whatever you want, you only need the outfits to play the games. You can wear what you like in the Saloon and still play the games there. But on that note, once you "exit" Western Frontier, there needs to be option to rejoin.

This is all moot of course as Home is inaccessible right now unless you just like hanging out in the navigator.

um u can rejoin the western frontier just by waving lol

um this morning everything was so laggy and unresponsive & n general just not  *Edited*  working properly that i nvr saw the message 2 rejoin by waving. and getting m-10ed everytime i logged in didn't help either lol

* apologies if i used 2 many letters in responding 2 u. hope u can understand it lol

Trading IMO should be more of an option and not part of their tier system.

How much trading would you have to do in order to reach tier 15?  Which is one of the requierements in order to obtain the ranch, not to mention the sheer fact that the trade value is very poor.

From the Q&A topic notes:

"The trade tokens are a little expensive to buy with gold. They want people to play games to earn the majority of their tokens."

In the words of DL in the other old west topic: "that's cool".

But this idiotic business model is driving people away. Just allowing people to buy trade token packs directly would already cause a huge increase. I'd be willing to spend $50.00 on a big trade token pack, but not $50.00 on gold for a single item.

I'm also not paying to play the annoying multiplayer games for the rewards, nor am I going to lose my sanity panning or mining for gold to play them and neither are most of (if not all) of my friends list.

Look, most people hate waiting for stuff on PS Home unless it's something where you work towards direct rewards, in the vein of Granzella's fossil digging, Ndreams Orb Runners or even DL's very own casino! Not something you constantly have to spend money on the CHANCE to win tokens to get the rewards and then "trade", or "gift" yourself on an alt.

Seriously, this is like adding extra steps to The Midways. I seriously doubt something as horrible as that would have even been half as successful if they added 2 additional irritating step to get the rewards.

In the same venue, LKWD's gift machine and Veemee's 3D printer are probably the 2 most successful things on PS Home. Do you REALLY think they would be so successful if people had to do mind numbing chores to win trade coins instead of just buying them directly?!

If the casino had extra steps like this, I also doubt that would have been as successful. Then again, all but poker and bingo are single player games, making them more tolerable. The fact that all but 1 trade token yielding games are multiplayer only adds a FOURTH annoying step. At the very least, you could add trade tokens to black jack and 5 finger fillet. Last night I went back to blackjack and confirmed you don't recieve trade tokens from it, even after playing for a while and winning a decent amount of gold.

I call it the "WASTErn Frontier" predominantly because it is massively wasted potential. DL is sitting on a gold mine here (pun intended) with this gifting system if we are just able to buy trade tokens directly.

I may not have a degree in business analysis, but I do have almost 3 years experience in amateur "PS Home trends analysis", and my prediction is people that aren't instantly turned off by this asinine system will eventually get fed up with it, especially when they could be doing things like PS4, FFXIV, and GTAV (as much as I hate those 3 things). There is also nothing to draw people to this space or Home once they learn how the system works. It certainly didn't interest any of my friends who are busy with games.

Rehaul the system completely and turn it into a "gifting space" where people buy trade tokens to gift their friends (and non-friends if that's possible) or, if they are feeling masochistic, have the OPTION of buying/winning gold to play games and earn trade tokens, and I can almost certainly predict a massive cash flow to this space (especially from my alt account, as I'd buy both duster jackets and ruffle coats for women and a bunch of other items)

Otherwise, I predict this amazingly painful architecture, combined with people's interest in other things on Home and various non-home games, is going to cause this place to just peter out and die with the pitiful whinny of a cowboy's horse that's been bitten by an ornery rattlesnake. Stop bein' yellow-bellied and pony up to what the townsfolk REALLY want.

I think it's a big flop, extremly slow and long w8 for each area to load. And if you are unlucky you get stuck on loading screen, games are not that funny,  you can't wear clothes you bought etc etc. But I'm not surprised, since it's Dl that has done the space,
