[UPDATE] Fix for Booting Problem with 1.36

153 replies 48 views Edited Jun 1, 2010

Hi everyone,

The cause of the patching problems that some of you are experiencing has been identified. Please follow the instructions below (if applicable)  before attempting to apply the 1.36 patch on your system:

When greeted with the 1.36 Patch notification screen, wait for the yellow HDD activity light on your PS3 to stop flashing before pressing any buttons.

Once the yellow HDD access light has stopped blinking, press to start the install process. The update patch download should then begin as usual.

If you press any buttons before the yellow HDD access light stops flashing, your PS3 will restart and you will need to repeat this process from the beginning.

Cyd it also works if you cancel the initial request to update and then proceed to let the application load. The app will again ask for you to update after loading where it will ask you to relog into PSN and then it will download and install the update without any issues.

Shame they couldn't manage to release an update without people having to go through all this crap, but hey, never mind huh!

Then one of two things will happen: the HOME team (Cyd, Glass, and Locust) will msg everyone to inform them about how to boot the new update (less likely), or those individuals will gripe to their friends, and those will gripe to THEIR friends, and so on, until they msg somebody who DOES read the forums, and then the information will flow back downhill (more likely).

What is the button? I'm looking at my documentation and don't see anything in the contents about it. I hope this is the magical button that allows my PS3 to finally boot! Please please please!
