I never heard the term Emo, until I was probably in the 11th grade. It was the year 2000 and at my school, you were either a Gothic, Hippe, Freak, Prep or Nerd. Well, for most of my school career I was considered a Freak, but I was friends with many different types of people.
The Freaks were the people that really couldn't be classified in any category. We loved Metal, Flannel and we didn't care how we dressed. Some days you could find me wearing all black, while other days you could find me in my favorite Grateful Dead shirt. We didn't care about stereotypes, we just wanted to be individuals. I'm sure most of you can relate to that.
So anyways, when I was in 11th grade, I heard the term Emo but I never gave it much thought. It seemed the preppy kids that liked to go to poetry readings were into that, but I don't remember them looking the slightest bit gothic, quiet maybe.
When I began using Home, I took to wearing all Black, it felt natural, safe and there wasn't alot to choose from. I found that I kept getting called Emo, I kept correcting people and telling them I was Gothic but the term Gothic seemed to be outdated and I finally stopped wearing black.
When Heavy Water released the new Emo Ray vs The Intergalactic Teddy Bears, Dlyrius asked me what Emo meant. I told her, that honestly I had no idea but that I knew that it had something to do with cutting yourself and being depressed all the time. She wasn't happy with my answer and did some reasearch on her own to truly figure out the meaning of Emo.
