Re: The Casino's Next BETA Poker Tournament

Apr 27, 2013

After the announcement of the first beta tourney, I played more than the required 10 poker games to enter the tournament.  However, I was on vacation and missed the first tourney.  I came back and entered the casino concourse on 4/26.  I saw the message about the 4/27-4/28 tourney, but i never got a voucher code.  It didn't appear.  Was I supposed to play another 10 poker games in between the first and second tournaments?  Or was I supposed to get a voucher code when I entered the casino concourse.  I sent a msg to DL tech support early this morning, but I still didn't get the voucher code, and no one replied.  Did I do something wrong?  At the very least, I thought I earned the voucher for the free bracelet to enter the Tournament Qualifying Room.  Can anyone help me?

Aww Smiley Sad.  Thanks for answering.  I should've known.  Although I don't understand why since the second tournament is a separate one and the outcome has nothing to do with the first one.  Now I'm angry at myself for wasting so much time and chips for this event.  (Ouch...I'm kicking myself.  lol)

Well, at least I still have my diamond bracelet I earned 5 years ago from the original PS Home EA Sports Complex Texas Holdem Rooms.  I always try to look at the bright side of things.  (I better shut up before I mush myself and it becomes another disappearing wardrobe reward... fuhgeddaboudit! lol)

After playing for 2 hours it's obvious that the changes made didn't make any difference in play. The all-ins and overly aggressive play with junk hands dominated the play in almost every game played. As long as the earnings and holdings are tied together it will encourage bad players to just test their luck and hope they catch a card. The rate of the blind raises also encourages bad play. Blinds should not raise every 2 hands. It's counterproductive to playing smart.

There were some good tables with people that actually played but I did see what looked like chip dumping on a couple tables. People going all in and one leaving the table before the cards were turned over allowing one to gain chips that probably weren't earned. If this format is kept when the tournaments go live and require pay to play there is a very small chance I would play in them. I just don't see any reason putting up real money with no real payback when the first round is a crap shoot and is more determined by luck. The payouts in each game still give those that win a couple games a chance to play more games then those that finish second or third.

Holdings should be deducted each game and not be replenished allowing one to get in more chances to pad their winnings. Once the original starting holdings are exhausted one's play should be done and then they should have to wait and see how they did in comparison to everyone else with the same amount of chances to build their earning's. End of rant and good luck to everyone that chooses to participate in these tournaments once they become pay to play.

Re: The Casino's Next BETA Poker Tournament

Ok that was fun, I played most of the day except 2 breaks (my niece lol). Final seat for semi's was 10,639 , I eneded w/ 6,937 but after adding up my totals from all day I should've had 8,250. Three 4th places, Two 3rd places, Five 2nd places & 2 wins!! I still would be out of the running for top 36 just thought I would let the glitch be known.

I liked some of the changes, & all day I only played 1 or 2 all in every hand players. Over all it was fun & a free day of poker so can't complain. Good luck too the top 36!!

I was off to a great start winning 2 of my first 3 games. I found that my luck and persistence both waned after a few hours. I gave up with about an hour to go. My holdings stack was still around 4000 but i had had enough by that point. I was only about 1 win from getting back on the board but I will not be around to play tomorrow anyway and I didn't want to take a spot from someone else.

Good luck to everyone on Day 2.
