I think that the virtual weather/date/time being keyed to the regional servers is a great idea. I hope there will be an easy way to switch from one to another on the fly tho.

Being that Home is going to be worldwide, I don't think there are too many Holidays the entire world celebrates. The seasons aren't that doable either. When it's summer in the northern hemisphere it's winter in the southern. Maybe they can take what region your in and work it out. Who knows?

I don't get where the dilemma is.

If I log on at night, or in the day, on my client side, that's what it'll show outside. It's not like the light outside matters.

If the entire thing is client side, who cares about time-zones, it just shows the according time to the person connecting and the outside would be different for everyone.

Don't you think that setting that instead of setting up something that checks what time it is and where each PS3 is hooked up would be a little more complicated than something the server would send out to all the PS3's on a given server?
Also, what about the problems it would pose for advertising and online retailers in Home? How can they have a winter sale or tonight only sale on thousands of PS3's on which most of them are not synchronized to a local server?  I know that isn't worded the best but i hope at least that I got my point across.

Simple:

It gives the time in whatever timezone your in.

When the ad, or live event says something will happen in 16:00 UTC, it'll say 21:00 JST for someone else, and for me, it'll say 5:00 EST.

Those times are definetly wrong as I just guessed them, but there really isn't a problem with Home.

Besides, I think there will be different servers for different regions.

They already said that the backdrop in your home is interchangeble. So they'll probably add some diffenrent ones in at certain times like holidays. But I would really like to see different scenes like different landmarks or cities. Say, for example your're in a loft in NY City looking out at Central Park.
