[Q&A Notes] Digitalleisure & Madmunki Spunland *SPOILERS*

     Hiya Friends,

I got the opertunity to attend the Madmunki Q&A.  They have a space coming out for the Christmas season and it sounds like so much fun.  They call it "Spun'mas" and this space will have some sort of reward.  ALSO the Digital Leisure Q&A had a wonderful turn out with questions and information.  They shared quite a bit.  There is 1200 and some words below that will disclose what happen at these 2 Q&A sessions.

Madmunki Spunland Q&A Session

Spunmas – a beautiful winder Spunderland – maybe we’ll even see father Spun if you’re good Spunling of course.  At this Spunmas there will be a special Spunmas gift!  This gift reward can only be opened on Spunmas day till the end of the year.  We can wear whatever we please!  This is Spunland after all!  UncleSpun says if we have the Spunland Portal reward we can use it to get the spunoween version of spunland.  The relocator in the Spunland Cottage also has the Spuno’ween option.  UncleSpun says Spun’mas will start 3 weeks  from today.

SpunDeDuke says, “WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! "  Looks like they’re having some fun with everyone.  What is that a broom?

SpunDeDuke looked at us and said, Enter the Spunland game > go into the shop and wonder about the maze to find your broombroom reward!  UncleSpun says they’re feeling a bit spun out – I can see why, they got this broom spinning in a big ol’ circle!  I’m getting spun out just by watching this go on!

SpunDeDuke says find your way around the shop maze and see if you find Spunta Claus (father Spun) and find the Groto.

They say the’ve been so busy getting the Spunmas Spunland finished, and it is on its way, so keep your heals together and eyes peeled, because Spun’mas is on the way in 3 weeks!

Digital Leisure Q&A Session

With the new Western Frontier around they are now focused on looking for problems with-in the space so they can be fixed.  If there is anything that they can fix easily they’ll try and get it in next weeks update.

If you happen to leave the game we can use the wave emote to get back in or simply say “Hello” via the L1 button.  Also if someone leaves the “Western Frontier” game they should become invisible to the people in the game.  DL says we might be seeing text bubbles  from people who left the game, but no avatar.  DL also added that we can try all the games for free the first time.  After we played all the games we will unlock a free personal space.

The mine game allows us to collect gold to play the other games in town.  There is also a little secret in this mining space.  I’ll keep that a secret, just go explore!  DL says there really isn’t anything special to do in this secret space, but they wanted to add it for those that went exploring.  There are a couple small easter eggs in town – just so you know they are just for funz!  Seems this space is just loaded with adventure and fun.

DL says they’re in the process of planning their next project.  They’re going to see what they did well with the Western Frontier and try to expand on their strengths.  This Space DL created is like most of the other spaces in PlayStation Home.  There are a lot of mini games for us to play.  Originally they were going to make it like their casino, with no way to earn free chips other than wait.  So they have added these mining and panning games as a way for us to earn gold.  Mining is much faster than panning, but pick axes cost a dollar.  You can of course also buy gold.

DL says as we play games, we earn trade tokens, these tokens can be used at the trading post to trade for items with other players.  DL says, in all honesty if we’re looking to just play the games, they feel the best way is still to just buy gold.  Our dollar goes a lot father in the old west!  Their highest gold package is 80k gold, and the games are much cheaper than in the casino.  The trade tokens are a little expensive to buy with gold.  They want people to play games to earn the majority of their tokens.

The exchange rate is only if we want to top up to trade for an item right away.  They are monitoring the rate at which people are collecting gold, DL says.  DL also says we can chop our fingers off playing five finger fillet – five finger fillet is a pretty good way to earn gold too, if we practice of course.

DL says there is a ranch house space, but it will take quite some time to earn.  If we get good at the shooting gallery, that’s also a good place to earn gold.  I would like to add that there is night time to the Western Frontier.  We can get the campsite for completing the intro quest, DL added.  Just press L2 to bring up our quest log and see what’s on the list.

We can also talk to the Mayor in town and he’ll tell us about the stuff we need to do.  Panning uses the Six-axis sensor sensor.  It’s like we’re moving the pan with our controller – how kewl is that!?  Then we either need to tilt the controller left and right, or forward and back.  DL says sometimes it’s just easier to do it with one hand.  Particularly for the back and forth motion.

As we are panning, we’ll feel our controller vibrate when we get the motion correct.  It’s about rhythm, not how fast we can wiggle it back and forth.  DL says try and keep a steady rhythm as we tilt our controller from side to side, or back and forth.  There is a ticking sound that also helps us keep a good rhythm.  If we do it enough, we’ll develop a rhythm.

DL says, “Is that how you spell that word?”  Oh please don’t make me do a typo.  I’m already at 1000 words!

DL says we can still do it without the vibration, they say to just make it so when the controller is to the left.  It ticks, then when it’s on the right it ticks.  <left – tick >right – tick> or simply <forward tick>back Tick>

There is a small chance when panning to receive more than the usual 3-4 pieces, so sometimes we’ll get lucky and get a nice nugget.  Mining has much higher yields, and again theres a chance to earn even more for some random nodes.

They say they do have considerations in the main town for expansion if/when they want to.  DL says when the game is working properly we’ll be split into two teams.  As your team collects gold, the cart inside the mine will move either in the mine or towards the river.  When the cart reaches the end of  the mine (or the entrance at the river) that team wins bonus gold.  So that will help us earn more gold to play games!

DL mentions that there is also a time limit, so if the teams are even, there will still be a bonus payout to the team that has mined more gold.  They hope to get that working properly sooner rather than later so hang tight!  If we add up how much we mined/panned during the time with the hundred gold that should be enough to play some games in town.  If we win the games in town we win more gold of course.

DL adds that if we count male/female as separate and each color separate, they think the list is 400.  We might not count them all as separate, but DL feels they’ve given us a pretty good variety.

Also to put a period on this session:

Any reward we earn here should also be available in our wardrobe for use in other spaces.  If we’re not properly receiving items, just let digitalleisure know, because that is a bug that must be fixed ASAP.  Hit them up via their twitter @digitalleisure or hit them up via techsupport@digitalleisure.com.  You can also like them on their face book at facebook.com/digitalleisure.

I appreciate those notes too. I am having problems getting into the space (not unusual for update day), but I do look forward to checking it out, and feel a little better prepared now!

I'm excited about the space... Digital Leisure really got me curious with their marketing campaign. I hope it works out for them, because it seems as though they have spent a lot of time and effort on it.

     Thanks Y'all!

I played the mining & panning mini games, and they're a lot of fun in my opinion.  There are a few things that need worked out, and I'm sure Digital Leisure will be working out the kinks for us.  I panned and mined for about 30 minutes and was able to harvest around 150 gold.  Not bad considering 100 Gold would get me one good round around the town.  Very impressive space and very fun, at that.

Thanks for having me last night. I had a great time answering all of your questions, and I hope that some things were clarified.

We are hard at work getting the few bugs fixed that have popped up post launch. And, as always, we'll be crediting gold for any issues.

Thanks again!
