Pottermore Guide/Trading-Post

Well as we're all well aware, Pottermore has now come to Home.

It limits you to Pottermore items and default hairstyles while in its spaces.

To unlock bonus content, we need to link to Pottermore.com accounts, which one of the first things it does once you reach a certain progress point, is unlock trading cards we can trade in Home.

For those who need help progressing through Pottermore.com's story game, somebody's already created a walkthrough:
http://www.cheatswhiz.com/pottermore/

EDIT: Updated the link, since the original seemed to have died. Pls let me know if this link works, I'd set it to Spoilers, but it has pictures, which make it easier than just copying the text.

To obtain access to trading cards, you need to be sorted by the Sorting Hat on the Pottermore website, after which you will obtain a stack of random cards, and others can be obtained by the following methods:

  • Find them randomly placed in the Pottermore spaces (will regenerate)
  • 1 Card: Win a game of Book Herding
  • 1 Card: Win the Pottermore Trivia Quiz
  • 1 Card: Win a Wizard's Duel

Any information towards a Home guide for the rewards and such I can update here, or leave this as a card trading post.

Otherwise, if you have already met the requirements to have your cards in Home, let's use this thread as a means to find people with cards we need & have spares of.

You sure? You gotta scroll down past the description stuff, but it has a linked guide for each chapter.

http://pottermorecheats.org/walkthroughs/ incase it's the hyperlink, even though it's working for me.

Anyways, here's the cards I have dupes of currently.
Book - 11

Spell - 4 & 10

Potion & Ingredient - 12

Ways of collecting trading cards:

  • Find them randomly placed in the Pottermore spaces (will regenerate)
  • 1 Card: Win a game of Book Herding
  • 1 Card: Win the Pottermore Trivia Quiz
  • 1 Card: *Win a Wizard's Duel

*If you chose to have a rematch, the winner of any rematch will not receive a card.  Only the person who won the first match will get a card.

There is no limit to how many times you can replay any of these games and collect more cards.

The fastest way to collect cards is the Wizard's Duel, if you have an easy partner or one willing to take a dive.

I've only gotten a card from winning each game, once. D, have you gotten more or is it possibly another "daily" for Home?

Lol. She beat me to that, but also, how do you spot the "Card around the space" one? Do they flash or anything to stand out?

The cards seem to have a little glow on them but I really noticed it by the 'pick up card' prompt i happened to be standing on one on the express myself.

I got a new card each time I won.  I have over 30 cards now, so if there is a daily limit I have not hit it yet.

Also, if your opponent quits any of these games you wont get the card.

This is particularly frustrating when playing the Quiz as it can easily take over 10 minutes, and if they quit just before you get the 10th correct answer, and even though the game says you won by default, you wont get a card.  Smiley Mad

For this reason, I suggest you only play with friends.

On a positive note, I also got a card for coming in second in a Quiz with three people, so it appears you don't have to win to get a card if there are more than two players in a game.

D, during all your card collecting, have you completed any pages of the booklet yet? I'm curious if there's completion rewards. XD

Are these cards just collectibles, or are they also also a usuable in some sort of card game, like Magic, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, etc.?
