PS3 HOME I had same Idea:

15 replies 96 views Edited Mar 16, 2007
I once thought of a game that was really not a game but a virtual world where you played a character in the first person.  You start off by buying the game that gives you the basic apartment and a small bank account (credits).

You can earn money (credits) two ways:
1.) Buy and download online games via the virtual world online stores and beat other online players. (faster way to build up your bank account).

or

2.) Get a virtual world job and play bunch of free mini games. You can get a job listed in the virtual world unemployment section:

A.) Policemen (stop criminals who are other online players who are lazy and want to just play the game as if it was GTA)  As a Policeman you are equiped with a gun, ticket book, and handcuffs.  You earn credit by arresting offenders and giving out tickets.  But look out you can lose (get fired) by shooting somebody wrongly or mis using your powers.  You get to drive a police car with lights and sirens. Other virtual world players really do have to pull over or lead police into a chase. But be warned, if you get caught you do go to virtual world jail which means you lose your credits you built up and everything else you bought with your credit. That could mean your house and fancy car.  (Everybody is innocent until proven guilty?)  In Virtual world the PS3 or CPU already know if you were in the right or wrong.  Because the computer knows if the lights were red or green or if you are violating the laws.  But its up to the police to catch you.

B.) Fireman (you get to drive fire trucks and put out fires and rescue cats from trees). You get money by safely getting to fires started by virtual world players who will go around thinking they can do anything because its a virtual world and the first things are probably go and wreck cars and start fires.  So a Fireman is a necessary job.  Remember.....its virtual world.  So if you start a fire to a building or house and there are other virtual world players, they can die.  And if you die in virtual world from a crime you lose all of your credits.  But you come back instantly with the ability to get half the credits back if you go and report the crime you were a victim of.  After you make a report to a policeman, you get your credits back and you go on your marry way.  But if you die commiting a crime by driving wrecklessly or killed by cops doing wrong, then you lose all your credits and you don't get to come back unless you create a new character.

C.) Criminal.  Its really not a job.  Its just what you chose to be.  You can spend your few start out credits by buying a gun at the gun store and go around robbing people or car jacking people.  And since people can die and lose half their credit, they will probably comply and give you what they are driving or the limited credits they can carry at once.

D.) Professional Fighter.  Yeah...you can chose to be a professional fighter where in Virtual World you can enter buildings that house Boxing rings, Octagon Ultimate Fighting rings, Wrestling rings, etc, and fight other virtual world pro fighters in these mini games.  They are actually at least PS2 level fighting games.  And of course you win credits by winning fights.

E.) Professional Gambler.  Oh yeah....Virtual World has Casinos.  These casinos are full of casino mini games and slots (video poker etc).  You can win a boat load or lose your shirt.

F.) Begger. Yes, if you lose your shirt, there is no law against begging.  Other players can give you a max credit of a few dollars to put some more quarters into the slots.

G.) Ambo Driver / Paramedic.  Its your job to respond to accidents or victim's of crime and take them safely to the hospital where they have a percentage of chance of living if they get to the hospital in time.  This means the player you saved dont lose half his money and you make money by saving them.  But becareful, you can get into accidents yourself and die too.

H.) Bus Driver / Taxi Driver.  Your job is to drive your route and transport other virtual players who can't afford to buy a car yet.  You get 1/2 a credit for every passenger you pick up and drop off.  Taxi Drivers get a lot more but they have to buy the Taxi Cab.

I.) Meter maid.  yes....you know in Virtual world people will leave their virtual world car anywhere they want even in the middle of the street just because they are lazy to park it legally.  So thats where you step in.  You go around looking for illegally parked cars and ticket them.  Don't worry, your job is easy.  The computer knows if the car is parked wrongly and if you ticket the car it will allow it to be ticketed. If its parked ok,,,,,you won't be able to ticket it.  You get a lot of credits for one ticket issued.  Why? Because you gotta make it fun some how.  Finding one wrongly parked car can get you all excited knowing that its enough credits earned to buy a piece of furniture for your house or apartment.

J.) other jobs can be added on with updates.

Virtual World works just like home. You can buy a house or just stay in your basic standard apartment that you get with your game.  You can buy furniture and electronic devices for your house.  A TV can really display streamed videos.  A stereo can play real music.  Clothes shopping is just as much fun it is in real life.  You can pick cheap stores or expensive stores.  You can pick jewelry stores, auto dealerships, and there is even a pawn shop to trade in your old stuff.  Or you can sell it to other players.

In the Virtual world you can meet real players through your virtual world character which you can scan your real face to or make your own likeness through a face program.  Going to a night club you can earn style points equaling to credits if you dress nice or DDR real good with your controller or dance pad.

And don't forget you can go to a game room / arcade and play your online games via this PS3 "Home" like app and earn points by playing other online players.  Like Socom, Football, etc....

You talk to other players by typing or voice mic.

Have fun....

You should develop your own virtual world. Call it Hometown

I only read briefly through it all and from what I can tell, your idea is the Sims, not Home...

Exactly. People seem to be losing sight of what Home really is. It is NOT a game, it is a virtual community that aims to expand on the Playstation 3's online capabilities & user connectivity. I'm not downloading Home to compete with other users in getting money, prizes, more stuff or anything like that - I'm not interested in playing the Sims, if I wanted to I'd buy the game.

Seems to me you had the same idea as sims, 2nd life, and a host of other games. The Home difference is based on it being the gateway to other gaming experiences rather than being the root game itself.

I've seen multiple threads around gaming sites saying they thought of this first - you all should wrestle for dividends.
