Re: PS HOME: Thoughts Right Now?

May 15, 2012

Personally, I'm not happy in the least.  I think the major thing that bugs me is you don't hear one thing from the Community Leaders.  I have spent a good sum of money within the last month, which I can't even use.  The other thing that really ticks me off is they keep on adding content, like Midway 3..  and they still do community events, when over 75% of the people can't even stay online.  I've about just given up all hope on home.   IMO it's now one of the biggest fails in gaming.  Even though I have been on home since day one of open beta, it's just not what it use to be.

I would agree with SteveO I'd be more understanding of the connection issues if there was actual Leadership driving resolution but it seems as if they abandoned ship and left us all to sink or swim our own.

Don't they think by continuing to add more stuff they maybe adding to the problem and/or making it worst..

Does anyone know who's really in charge of home anymore?? Guess it really don't matter..

The connection issues are server based and in all regions. Some are more severe. Adding content has no bearing on the issue good or bad. Jack Buser still oversees Home same as he always has. The Home team in the EU are working every day on the issues.

Lately I've only been going on Home to do my daily Orb Run in Aurora and to collect fossils. I usually have no problems going to those spaces. Sometimes I get the boot trying to go to the Casino and almost every time I try to go to my Harbor Studio (its not so frequent with my other personal spaces). I'm just going to wait things out as far as Home goes. I've been spending more of my time on DC Universe Online with my friends

Jersquall - So management doesn't feel the need to share this information with the community?  Do you mind sharing with us where you obtained this insider information?

Re: PS HOME: Thoughts Right Now?

I'm having a blast with Home. To an extent, Home holds up a mirror to you: what you get out of it is what you put into it. While there are things that I miss (SingStar VIP, dammit), I think it's quite fun to be a part of.

If I had to rate it, I'd give it a 7/10. Ironically, this has more to do with the users than the service. SCEA Home has a rampant problem with trolling and social harassment, as well as serious technical issues which take an agonizingly long time to fix (freezing, anyone?), with surprisingly little in the way of solid information provided to the consumer. And their recent marketing moves towards constructing a rudimentary loyalty program, albeit profitable, fall short of the mark. If Home cracked down on the user-created problems, I'd likely rate it a 9/10 -- with a point removed due to insufficient focus on improving the social interface of Home as well as the gaming elements.

Yes, I recognize that it's not as easy to run a pro forma on social enhancements, and Home does provide some nifty stuff at least twice per year with core updates, but still: the long-term attraction of Home isn't just in its gaming experiences. Deepening the Home experience can only be achieved by making it a more immersive experience via our avatars and their ability to interact. And that is what I fervently hope to see.

D5021 F13 & other errors have plauged the comunity for a month now! myself i am stuck on the loading screen for about 15 mins now and i just got the F13 for the 5 or 6th time this morning! This is truely pathetic!

If you been on Home long enough you would know that these errors are nothing new... I suggest you start and get used to it.

I gave this thread 1 star

I would love to know more. Freedom of speech is amongst my most important value. Right now i feel like i live in a banana republic, and i dont like it. The silence from Sony only lead to more speculation. I see only one reason for such a lame public relation, security breach.

Freedom is not the power to say no.
Real freedom is the power to say yes.

It's not a security breach, and there are no hackers in your personal spaces. Honestly, someone with a 101 understanding of network operations could figure out what's causing these problems.

I'm excluding the voice chat issue from this. That is a vulnerability. So's Skype, for that matter.
