That came about from a partnership between NEC and Hudson Soft. I'm less familiar with the history on the TurboGrafx-16 but I think Hudson tried to partner with Nintendo but that didn't work out and they ended up working with NEC instead.

No relationship between Nintendo and Atari except that Nintendo revived the market after the video game crash in 1983. I think I still have my Atari 2600 around somewhere...

just wait and see what happens , remember " there's an app for that " knowing nintendo they'll make an app and put on the 3ds or the wii u lolplaystation follower

Actually, Nintendo approached Atari in1984 and offered them the chance to distribute the NES in North America. Atari said no, because it belived the console market was dead.

Interesting, I did not know that. Nintendo hasn't always played well with others so I wonder how that would have worked out

This reminds me of when I worked in video games when the N64 came out and people would ask for the Nintendo Gamestation or the Playstation 6400 and the like.
