How to deal with trolls on Home...

24 replies 541 views Edited Oct 7, 2013

Recently, I met several trolls on Home. So I asked my friend Danger Dad how he dealt with them. He gave me a demonstration.

First option, ignore the troll:

Second option, block the troll:

Third option, confront the troll. You need to have speacial skill called "quick wit".

You meet a troll:

The troll attacks:

Block the troll's attack:

Counter the attack with your own "quick wit"

Success!

Hopefully, these steps will be helpful to everyone.

Most trolls can be a pain, even I got trolled in Singstar the other day. Put them both on mute.

Mute does next to nothing. Ignore option is where its at. Block if theyre persistent. Report if you feel its neccessary.

Nice pics/guide D_D & T_A ^_^

I got a good laugh out of this, so kudos for that.

You should know tho, Quick wit is only effective when the intended target of your words has enough intelligence to comprehend what you say. Which quite frankly is a rare commodity when you are playing house... On the internet. . . With a bunch of other people... Playing house................

No disrespect intended. I fell for the "Its about meeting other gamers with common interests" bs too.

When I get trolled, I like to say to nearby witnesses something like this in reference to the troll bothering me: "You see folks, this is what happens when someone's parents are brother and sister." That kind of quick wit gets the typical troll **bleep** real quick.

If they aren't entertaining, I block them, if they are real pieces of work I report them as well. Usually they are just good for a laugh

Couple of things to add. I'll admit I'm a troll, the username alone should make that dead obvious. But in most cases I just try to make people laugh. And about my previous post in this thread, I had no idea that combining the word but with the word hurt was on the censored list. Sorry mods.

I think the OP was making a joke. However, people have taken it as serious.

I think that most of us are veteran Homesters. We know how to deal with trolls. So why another elongated discussion? It only takes one person to provide the answer.

I never have a problem with trolls. As I tune them out. I will not respond to them unless they have a "legitimate" question or concern. And I have no qualms about reporting offenders.

With all that has happened, I never put people on Ignore or add them to my Block List.

My Block List is, and will always be, empty.

;^) Heh. Exactly correct. Tang and I took the pictures with humor in mind. No need for anyone to read anything more into them.

It was a nice little production number. I'm glad that someone has a sense of humor, without being bad. Good work.
