I dont know how relevant these figures are, you'd need to make your own mind up really, but checking the Granzella Twilight Plaza race course there are atleast 63,000 people ranked.

This includes all regions, and is free to try, and as there are no rewards attached to it I wouldnt have thought many mulitiple account holders would have tried it with all their accounts. Also though, Granzella Twilight Plaza isnt as easily accessible now so I expect theres quite a lot of people that havent tried it yet.

Aaanyway, thats the number, 63,000+, it doesnt really mean much to me, but with the other numbers you have you may be able to put them into a magic box and come out with something but I doubt we'll ever really know. It would be interesting to find out though.

:^/ Another factor to consider when estimating the size of Home's active roster: Tech support for PSHome consists of one employee, Joystick_Warrior, on the support forum. No one else.

Actually, he will advise us on the "simple" issues regarding Home. For more serious issues, he refers the problem to the respective Developers. So, in this sense, he is not working alone. He has a whole team.

The way you play the game is the way you live your life.

Re: How many active accounts are there in Home?

Wouldn't you love to see a demographic profile of Home users?  I bet it would be fascinating.  So many products seem to be aimed primarily at the teenagers but when you look at the monthly stats from Sony on items sold in Home, it looks like the number of units of products aimed at the 'older' (over age 21 - out of school) markets are bigger sellers.

It is also fascinating that one of the newest personal spaces came out with a price of $19.99!  And no one ran screaming for the hills, protesting the pricing.  Instead, most of my friends bought it, love it, and invite everyone over to enjoy it.  Could it be because it was NOT decked out in bling and aimed at a teenage market?  And has high appeal to an older, more sophisticated market?  Best analogy I could think of is a 'muscle car' versus a BMW.  In each instance, the product has a high fantasy appeal to a specific market - and those market segments are very different from each other.

It seems to me that a developer not only has to look at the total market base of Home users, but also at the specific tastes of the users he wants as customers.  But how in the heck does he do a projection of profits if there is no concrete information on the size of those market segments?

Again, this is just idle speculation on my part - based on insatiable curiousity and general nosiness.  And I find the guesses made and the facts brought in by each of you to be really interesting.

I am only guessing ofcourse, but I've always thought, 5000 in the US, 3000 in EU, 1000 in JP, and maybe around 500 in HK.

This thread reminds of how the forums used to show how many members and guests were on at any given moment. That would always fluctuate between 200 and 500.

It was interesting to watch. What happened to it?

Another indicator of how many people use Home was Digital Leisure's announcement that there had been 1,000,000 visitors to the Casino in a year.

Since the Casino is heavily promoted and free to visit that would be a good indication of how many accounts were active in Home in 1 year. How many of those accounts were alts? 25%? 50%?

I'd say that the Digital Leisure number would show that between 400,000 and say 750,000 individuals logged into Home that year,

This includes all the pervs, stalkers, and other harassers who simply make new ones in the likely case to mask who they are or in the unlikely (and rare) case where they got an account ban right?
