Re: Home Currency and Folding@Home

If you check the F@H website... you'll see that there are thousands of people running this program on their PCs. And they're not doing it to get rewards... they're doing it for a good cause. You don't help out at a blood drive or donate money at church because they're going to give you presents. You do it for the sole reason of good charity. And for this reason, I doubt that Sony's going to be giving out any rewards (other than maybe a trophy for display). Besides this is helping Stanford... Sony's not getting anything out of the deal really...

I'm just throwing this out there, but does anyone have any thoughts or comments about getting people to run F@H on the PS3 by converting the number of finished work units into Home currency? This basically incentivizes running F@H because it rewards people with points to spend in PS Home. I think that if Sony did that, they would attract more "folders". F@H has already been a sucess on the PS3, but imagine what we could do if we drew in even more PS3 owners.

Comments?

Dude this is a great idea.
I think this will encourage people to use Folding@HOME
which makes complete sense!
I think this idea should be brought to their attention.
Maybe they can limit us to what we can buy with our Folding WU?
Just to make it fair to them also because I'm sure they want us to
make purchases on the PS Store.

I think it's a great idea, unfortunately I don't see it happening, but would be awesome if they did.

I definately don't see this happening. While it would be a good incentive, I just can't picture them giving out freebies just for folding. Everyone will probably have to pay real $$$, and that'll be that.

Though it's a nice idea.

Think of it as a reward for helping cure diseases, if the feeling of saving lives isn't enough
