You dont have to leave. Just go into the navi shops. You will be invisible and the offender will think you left.

If someone on Home says something rude or something I don't like I block them. End of story. I never hear from that person again. It's so easy to do, I don't know why more people don't do it.

You never mentioned if you were female, probably safer that way but, if that Home player is sexually harassing you by crouching in your private area blocking that player won't stop him from doing a virtually sexual action on your avatar. IF the player is cussing or making inappropriate comments you can ignore and report. Although that player can and will make up to 16 accounts and if they know they irritate you it can last for years. The harassing frustrated immature boys dominate the public spaces on Home with little or no moderation. Even if the moderation "team" knows a certain player is using multiple accounts to harass or a certain player OR is a Plus Player they won't enforce the terms of service. The TOS is designed to legally protect Sony, not individual players. The block/ignore features are made to protect us. Like I mentioned though, if the player goes around kneeling "in" female avatars ( and we all know the player that's been getting by with that for 2 years now) well unfortunately the blocking feature has FAILED to protect females on PS HOME from being virtually sexually assaulted/ harassed. And if that player never speaks and just kneels "in" you, the moderation "team" would rather have you run from him and leave rather than improve the blocking feature OR ban these players that have hundreds of reports spanning years.

Mac ban is not possible in IPv4 as your MAC doesn't leave your immediate LAN.

Re: Harassment Problems

Jun 23, 2014

I'm sorry to hear this is happening. I've only been on Home for about two weeks and it's a problem. Whenever I gamble in the casino or play bowling I'm always getting hit on, and sometimes it's worse than that. Most of the time I can block/ignore and walk away, but last night I lost it after getting four different creepy PMs from four different users.

I called that individual out for his comment very publicly, and then I continued on him until he apologized. But maybe I got lucky there? You never know what lengths users will go to harrass you on here.

My advice? Don't confront them. Avoid and block/ignore if you can.

They thrive on a reaction. They get bored pretty quickly most of the time is you simply ignore them. PM's I do believe are blocked if you put them on ignore in world. If you get a PM on the XMB don't be afraid to file a grief report by pressing triangle and scrolling down all the way to grief report. Blocking is also an option.

Some users are clueless and send some very inappropriate content. Moderation will deal with them.

Two weeks and you're already dealing with it like a vet, HuntressInSoCal. Unfortunately, some have been around for several months or years and still find themselves getting involved with drama. You're already even helping others by sharing that advice, which can help a lot - so good job!

*Not directed specifically at you:

You will face some type of abuse regardless of your gender or where you are online. When it comes to PlayStation Home, we begin with the tools necessary to protect ourselves, we just need to take advantage of those tools and not get involved with these nonsensical arguements online. Mute, Block, Ignore and Report are all available to each player - but having thick skin will help a lot.

Sure, it's annoying when we find ourselves facing abuse, but we can deal with it. It's up to the player to handle these situation, but knowing how to appropriately handle any given situations with grace is something players may have to learn.

So I'll offer some advice if others read this thread wondering how to handle some harssment problems:

When should players report?

Only when you witness players violating the Terms of Service. Never when it's personal drama issues, or non-PlayStation issues. The report option shouldn't be required very often and simply Ignoring players will save not only your time, but help the moderation teams as well. One of the biggest issues on Home is when players report others when ignoring them would have resolved the issue.

Should I Ignore or Block abusive players?

Ignore players when they bother you. Block them when they harass you often or try to contact you and you don't want them to.

What do I do when players stalk my avatar?

Ignore players that bother you by either dancing or stand too close to you. If you notice them around often, just block them to prevent confrontation. If they're using alts, and you know this, my advice would then be to stop getting involved with drama. May sound blunt, but doing so will only improve your experience.

What if I witness abuse but not directly involved? Should I get involved?

Help others if you can by letting them how to Ignore/Mute/Block and Report players, but you shouldn't ever bother chatting with jerks. If you witness others breaking the rules, you should report them, help the other person if you're able to or just move on. Never play hero as all players have the abilities to protect themselves. I'd suggest sending them a private message in-world, and moving on. That's what I've been doing since that feature was added.

What if I'm caught up with some drama?

Then you're taking Home too seriously. Don't let drama ruin your Home experience!

But.. what if I enjoy the drama?

Just don't ruin other players' Home experience. Smiley Happy

This topic is pretty dated, will Mods lock this?

Yep. It's what they do, yo!

Re: Harassment Problems

Moderaters may deal with them but, unlikely. The tools they gave us are to block and ignore. Although these harassing players are usually on Home to simply harass so some will stop at nothing. Especially when they know your online ID and you've spent money on it they may stalk you continuously. Instead of waiting for Sony to act on these creeps which in the TOS explains they aren't responsible for, file a police report for the creeps who harass you and seem to never get a ban. Sony knows they have a harassment problem on Home. FIXING the block and having it tell us a player is a blocked user on a different account would help. Also know that these creeps are cowards struggling with manhood or lack there of. lF real men could be allowed on Home and ban these creepy kids or "men" then Sony may be out some cash but, our gaming experience on Home would be more pleasant. Unfortunately it's free to use so any bored 11 year old can get on and do as they please. Remember also as I mentioned previously, some players say absolutely nothing and use the kneeing action on you which block won't prevent. And the moderating staff knows this and SHOULD be trying to improve this situation.

Thick skin IS great to have for Home. Yet not everyone should be required to have it. If a teenage female is being stalked and her avatar virtually sexually assaulted/ harassed on Home for 2years and block will not stop it and a certain player chases these females in public spaces in order to crouch in their private area and gesture his hand or head ( all of which takes 6 buttons) and avoids getting banned enough to deter doing it then it's time for real men to step in and do something about it and get sexual harassment or any stalkers off PS HOME.
