Re: Are you done with Home?

If it offers any redemption at all.. I've finally found an article I 100% agree with on HomeStation Magazine and it's on this very topic about Home, the PS4 and its swan song. It's titled 'The PlayStation 4: A Homeless Future?'.

It recognizes the milestone of the platform and doesn't surrender to the idea of Home not being on the PS4 having to be a bad thing. Many people like myself might be "done" with Home but it doesn't mean everyone else has to leave or necessarily panic Smiley Happy just cause the PS4 is out doesn't mean you have to upgrade. Much of what's on the PS3 now won't be discontinued for a while and judging from the comments from devs, as long as you keep supporting Home collectively you will get to keep it for a while longer.

No. I'll be done with home when it's officially shut down. Is home going to eventually get shut down? I'd say most likely, like almost everything else does. Does that mean I'm going to stop buying things on home? Nope.

I spent money on City of Heroes and it got shut down last year. Do I regret buying COH? No I enjoyed what time I had with it. Hey I'm going to shut down one day too aka die. Does this mean I should stop spending my money on things that make me happy until then? I think not.

I joined home because I like to socialise with people in a virtual environment. Sure I could go back to playing a mmorpg for that but it just won't be the same as home. Home brings different environments together. Where else in any other virtual world can you see Ezio having a conversation with a dinosaur, zombie, priest, and a guy wearing a Borat suit while at the park?

Well I'm staying.

So I ask, are you just done with PS Home completely?

The Flying Grayson, Nightwing, Robin, They were about more than fight moves. They were about inspiration, comfort, trust, family. I gave that up to become a spy. a Spider man; A Tsuchigumo. I have changed.

I am not done with Home, I don't consider my self a gamer but I do have some wonderful friends there. If anything I will use Home as a way to stay in touch with them.

VALID POINTS EVERYWHERE!!!

I really hope that a couple of no life forum trolls isn;t tearing the forum apart.

The kids who just found about about hiding their IPs and make themselves and both of their friends chuckle with freezer posts and "so and so is dead" threads aren't the real problem. They're just in the forefront more now than before since the forum has became a rather trite and vapid wasteland.

The folks who for so long preached "there is no fault here...you're all whiners...be nicer" and wrote lengthy discourses about the economical ramifications of who knows what while patting each other on their backs..where are they? They were run off by a few who spoke out against them? That was how dedicated they were? They "knew things we didn't"..they told us so quite frequently. Is that why they left? Their departure isn't the reason the forum is in sad shape either. No one little group is the whole reason for Home and the forums to exist despite what they may try to lead you to believe.

It seems to me that perhaps the current state of the forum is more a reflection of Home itself than anything else. Many are occupied with GTAV and FFXIV, others are busy with new PS4s. The forum is a microcosm of Home's active users, it's always been this way. Fewer active users, less to keep our interest, and more distractions equal one largely uninteresting forum, and a more sparsely populated Home world.

I don't believe that a couple of trolls ruined the forum. I don't believe a few forum members who railed against management (and those users who were closely aligned with management) ruined the forum either. Debate and spirited conversation are good things. Seeing one side of the picture just doesn't cut it for myself and others. I believe the problem lies in the fact many of the regulars moved on and we have so few newcomers here to take their places. New users are the lifeblood of Home and the forum. What we need is something to draw them in and engage them both in world and here.

I'll stick around yet, and when I decide it's time to go, I won't point fingers and blame others. I won't make a "I'm leaving Home And The Forums" post, and I won't come back and bitterly bash those still using the service that I have much enjoyed myself. I've seen enough of that already.

Heroes have been here in old days ands new. Those helping others day in and days out. Deflecting redicule by avoiding those who tried and failed on countless occasions to make them look bad in type. Heroes who didn't just want to die heros but live as one. I have known many heroes here.

I know many who do not use Home as much or even rarely as they used to but I think those who have spent consideral amounts of time in Home would say they will never be done with Home as long as they can remember what Home was to them.

Heroes and reflecting on glory days are all well and good, but how is that helping Home or the forum Jers? The fact remains that new users are needed as are the current regulars. Those who wish to go elsewhere will, that's their choice. I don't want to hear they were driven off...I know better. Those who choose to stay, they're the new heroes.

''Old days and new'' I agree that the current members need to do their part but the forums are just not popping like they used to Mya. They was a time when you couldn't keep up with topics posted here. it's not even that users were driven off it's that there are more lurkers. A lot of users just read the forums now. A lot more than most think. Trust me, they're here.

HCVs and new MVPs have tried beyond the normal to help out here and to get others interested in posting as well. So, it's not something that hasn't been tried. Die hards are the best of the bunch though. Still around reading and sometimes posting. very cool to see. I admire so many who are still here.
