It should be a simple matter of having her log in to her account, then click the Store icon and navigate over to Redeem Code.

That will put the funds in her account, and she can start buying stuff.

Dolphy Room highly recommended.

Or can the card be redeemed on the main account and then permission given for the sub-account to draw from there? I think that either way might work.

And yes, the Dolphy Room is highly recommended. Probably the best bargain on Home. Hours of fun at the dolphy races, many rewards...and a fully functional personal space

I believe that store funds can only be accessed by the account holder that redeems the code on the PSN card. A subaccount can't use funds from a master account and vice-versa.

Some downloads, such as themes and games, can be used by any account on the system. I'm not sure what's restricted to a single account, apart from Home content. Music and movie rentals, perhaps.

If you're having problems, you might have spending limits restricted on that sub-account.

Log into the main account, go into the sub-account settings (or parental control settings), use the dropodown to go to the sub-account you want to manage, and you'll see the monthly spending limits listed there.

Subaccount info

http://us.playstation.com/support/answer/index.htm?a_id=1197

A few slides in it states: When a subaccount is used to purchase goods, funds from the master account wallet will be used to pay for the purchase.  The master account holder can set a maximum spending limit for the subaccount.

That may be just one option for setting up the subaccount. I didn't read the whole thing.

Thank you all, it comes right out of the master account. You all are going to make her happy when she's home from school.

Yay, do I win a prize? I'm sure your niece will love her gift.

Please, tell her to look me up on Home if she has any questions. I don't know how experienced she is with Home but I'd be happy to help her out.
