x-flow mod and case mods to the ceche01 model

5 replies 1781 views Edited May 1, 2012

i recently aquired a e01 model that is a BC system and after my thermal paste application i did the x-flow mod to the bottom casing as the way these are designed it seems like a great idea, removed the rear grills and removed some of the ventilation grill from the side on the bottom casing(exhaust port) so theres absolutely nothing (case wise that is) restricting the flow of air coming out the unit, and careful precision with the dremel and it dont look bad as you would think but im not looking at the side or back of the unit anyway...im not sure of the actual temp differences but now the fan will not go above the second speed after many hours of hard playing and is much cooler than what i started with and you can feel the air coming out several feet away from the back,it made a huge difference....this is for these models only as models like the lo1 dont exhaust out the side and i doubt the xflow mod would do much on them either as they are designed completely different with standard heatsinks but the removal of the rear grill does help those models...i will post some pics of it up later for any that would like to see it..

well heres a few pics from my phone camera,i think my good camera battery has bit the dust lol,but anyway here ya go,now im not completely done with this yet,i will still need to clean it up a little but i will do that before it gets it's new paint(thinking fire engine red but still to be determined but after its all said and done i think it will look pretty nice myself...now this first pic is just showing my feet i put on it so it gets plenty of air to the x-flow mod as i like my unit horizontal(no pic of the x-flow mod but its basically the same as EE,i just copied it lol...
