will grid computing actually happen

it seems like ken kateragi is alwars talking about how multiple cells can be linked over Broaqd band to increas computing power etc. do u think it will happen ( giving the ps3 tons of power)?

egm seems to think thats wut the 3 gigabit ehternet oports are for. also kateragi talked aobut ripening etc

With the PS3? I don't think so. I just don't see the usefulness in it. It just can't be real time if its going across the internet. It seems like you'd lose too much in the transfer.

They already have similar things, with SETI@Home or Folding@Home aka Google Compute, so its not like its anything new.

i think its possible because its gigabit ethernet so it should be possible at least over a lan.

It's not going to help the PS3 because game developers can't count on the extra power to always be there.

I want to run seti on my ps3, it will be more powerful then my pc and really up my work unit count. Plus with linux being part of HDD package I do not see a reason why it can not be compiled from source.
