I have taken my PS3 many places, friends etc who do not have internet themselves and I can pick up internet from around them and have had no issues.
The only time I have problems is if the connection is below 30% signal strength.
In my apartment I get 100% where ever I am.
edit: My connection is not slow either, slower than wired but not slow.
I still get the same speeds of 10 down 1 up but my ping ends up being almost 100x worse. Ping ends up being like almost 400 over wifi compared to 30-60 wired.
that is the only thing that ends up slowing it down in the end, but not by much.

I have LOS, 100% and don't have problems. Ping averages 50ms and over 1.5MB/s is common down ( 0.1 up). Very rarely do I get disconnected and I can't be sure the wi-fi is to blame.
yea I do not get disconnected ever, speedtest.net is who says my ping is 399.
might have to re-try that though just to be sure it really is that high, because that is horrible. although in warhawk my ping is never that high.

i hate loosing connection.
does anybody run into this issue?
This problem concerns the first ps3 version - others should be fine, because sony has replaced the wifi antenna

I play in my room and my router is in the kitchen. Its preaty far, about 9 feet away with walls and what not. Also, tell your wife if why not sharing the TV.

NO I have my wife trained a little bit better.
Wireless was OK for me , but now I hardwired everything.

Wifi can suck in general since wireless has a weaker and slower connection then wired at the moment. Your PS3 can only pick up Wireless G signals, no matter what router you have your console will only pick up B or G (G is better, but if you have an older router...)
I have a Linksys gaming adapter and it converts the PS3 from wireless G to wireless n. I find that the connection is 10x more stable than before and if you can believe it my PS3 is about 75 feet away from the router (D-Link) in a seperate building. For anyone with wireless problems I highly recommend a gaming adapter.
