Basically it means drop ur pants and bend over, cause Sony is gonna have its way with you!

It's a term for when the system locks up from over heating and is now a paperweight instead of a gaming system

It's an abbreviation for the term "yellow light of death", which has been created and propagated by the gamer community. It's used to describe the amber general failure warning light (note the word "general" ), and has often been mischaracterized, and used as a catch all phrase, to imply a specific hardware failure, and not a general failure.

While what you stated is technically true, but it is pretty well known at this point that the vast majority of the cases of YLOD are caused by a broken connection under the GPU. It can be caused by other components, but it has been found to be quite rare...

As I was saying...
Listen, we've had this debate time and time again. So far nobody has offered anything more than "it just is". So until somebody produces information that doesn't originate from a fly by night company that fixes consoles, or from a web forum, and comes from a REPUTABLE neutral source that has solid evidence to back it, I'm going to keep playing the Doubting Thomas card.

The information from multiple sources all around the net. The best ones are the Youtube videos a console that has the YLOD and then proceed to fix it by reflowing the GPU. Even the DYI site ifixit.com has a guide detailing this. The vast majority of the people making these videos aren't selling anything or soliciting business.

I'm sure the only thing that will satisfy you is an official statement from Sony on the issue, but realistically that isn't going to happen. The best we can do is make educated assesments, based on the available evidence...
